Unable to remove HTSP Client
Added by Sylvan Deity over 9 years ago
I'm using Openelec 5.0.8 and Kodi 14.2. I have installed the TVHeadend Backend using the unofficial OpenElec Repo and the TVHeadend HTSP Client from Settings -> Addons -> Deactivated Addons -> PVR Clients. Live TV is enabled.
After disabling Live TV I've uninstalled the TVHeadend Backend successfully. The TVHeadend HTSP Client unfortunately just wont disappear. I've tried to:
- Disable it
- Uninstall it
- Delete it from the following directories via ssh:
1. /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.tvheadend/
2. /storage/.kodi/addons/service.multimedia.tvheadend/
3. /storage/.kodi/addons/pvr.hts/
Unfortunately after rebooting and re-enabling the Live TV setting, in the Settings -> Addons Section TVHeadend HTSP Client is installed and enabled again. Every 5 Seconds (as set in the configuration) the client tries to connect to the backend and shows an information box "TVHeadend HTSP Client - Connection Lost".
What can I do to finally get rid of the TVHeadend HTSP Client?

After countless days of searching for the solution, I found the following steps to work out perfectly:
1. mv /storage/.kodi/userdata/Database/Addons*.db /storage/.kodi/userdata/Database/Addons*.db.bak
2. mv /storage/.kodi/userdata/Database/TV*.db /storage/.kodi/userdata/Database/TV*.db.bak
The "*" stands for a random number.
The problem is that the databases are corrupt which causes the addon to stay and not being able to get removed properly.
After renaming those Databases, Kodi rebuilds them.

Many thanks for your solution!
I've had the same issue with my osmc setup on the Raspberry Pi 3. (Kodi 16.1, TVHeadend Server 4.0.9)
The TVHeadend Frontend started, but didn't find any channels.
Therefore the Live TV and Radio Button in the Kodi Mainmenu didn't appear.
To solve the problem I tried to uninstall the TVHeadend HTSP Client; without success.
When I hit the uninstall button the frontend disapeared out of the list, but was back again after a reboot of the system.
After rename (or remove) the two files listed above and reinstall the Frontend everything worked like a charm!
By the way: on my setup I found the files under:
/home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/Database/
