Errors and Bad image when more than 1 dvb-s2 is in use on HD channels

Hey all,

I have 2 x Montage M88DS3103 dvb-s2 usb receivers.

When I use 1 to stream a HD channel everything is fine. But when i open a 2nd HD channel, the 2nd channel has a bad signal
Its worth noting if I stream the 2nd channel using a dvb-t2 usb stick its fine.
Im using a Powered hub and a raspberry pi 2

any ideas?

Remember that the Pi only has one usb bus that is shared between the Ethernet and usb devices so I'm not surprised you're getting CC errors trying to stream two HD services, that bus can easily be overwhelmed.

You could try enabling force_pid_filter_usage, by adding "options dvb_usb force_pid_filter_usage=1" to /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf, however this is hardware dependant & might not work with your tuner but it's worth a shot. This option tells the tuner to only send requested service pids & not the complete transport stream.

Thanks for letting me know, I thought as much. I just wasnt sure as the Dvb-t2 Hd channels can have 2 streams running at the same time.

Would a banananPi be any better?

I'm honestly not sure, it looks like the BPi has a separate Giga Ethernet so I'd say it should handle it okay!

I still believe the RPi has usb issues. I've got an old Technisat Skystar USB HD & a el-cheapo rtl2832 stick connected up (to a RPI2), the Technisat has no issues whatsoever, no CC errors nothing, it happily streams BBC One HD over the network, the rtl stick however spams the log with CC errors just streaming BBC One (in SD)! :s

It also streams the complete BBC 10847V transponder and the Astra Ultra HD Demo over my network too! Yet can't manage one SD channel from DVB-T!

It doesn't make any sense :p
