Cropping live tv stream
Added by Yaron Mic over 9 years ago
Hello,
I have dashed white lines in the top of the screen in some channels.
Here is an example: http://imgur.com/h9c446o
In another channel the lines are bigger and blinking.
I know I can run a post processing script for recorded videos and crop it there,
but I also don't want to see the white lines while watching live TV.
Is there a way to configure Tvheadend to crop the top of the videos?
Or is there any other fix for the appearance of these white lines?
Thanks in advance.

If you're using kodi, just crop/zoom in a little?
The dashes are usually there for receivers to decode and can contain anything, TV programme information, time left.. e.t.c.. I see them all the time especially on older programming.
I'm surprised it bothers you, it's only a one pixel line!

In the case of that specific channel in the link it is 1 line, in others it is like 5 and it is blinking.
It bothers me since I don't want to hide the top 5 pixels in kodi since it means I won't
see the top 5 pixels also when watching anything not from tvheadend.

Hi,
sorry for bringing this old topic up again, but I also have this issue with the white dashed on some channels. As I do not watch live TV on TvH it would be enough for me to post-process them out. I run TvH on a RPi 2 with OpenELEC.
@Yaron: Could you perhaps tell me how you do this? I'm new to the Linux and Raspi world and some help would be really appreciated
Best regards
Stefan

You have to set a post-processing script in the TvHeadend web interface. I was using ffmpeg for croping the videos. I don't remember the exact arguments I gave to ffmpeg, but I remember that I learned how to do that from here:
http://video.stackexchange.com/questions/4563/how-can-i-crop-a-video-with-ffmpeg
You just need to figure out how to run ffmpeg off of the RPi.

Bumping this again, is there a way to do this with the live stream?
As above, I only see it with 1 specific channel, so not worth adjusting Kodi for 1 channel.
