Version 3.4

Folks,

I've got TVHeadend going reasonably well on a Raspberry Pi streaming across by home network.

I'm trying to create a new user with access to set recordings and receive streams but for some reason it wont log on with the new details.

naturally I save the new user and password then restart TVHeadend.

Probably something simple but any ideas appreciated.

Is the new user there when you restart? There's no reason to have to restart, btw, but it might be that it's not surviving the restart (permissions?) or maybe even you're trying to change it without admin rights (I didn't think the tab would show then, though).

Otherwise, post a screengrab of your Access Control entries. Also, click the up arrows and the cog in the lower right of the screen to switch on and see debug logging, and then try to connect - you might get something that tells you what's wrong.

Prof,

Yes, new user remains after restart.

Here is a screen shot including the debug readout; the reference to 10.19.44.20 was a recording I set using my mobile phone.

Again tried to log in using new user details but keeps refusing.

I'd expect to see something in the log if someone has connected but is being refused - do you have the tvh server details correct from your client, as well as the username/password? Do you have a valid route through (e.g. ping, telnet, ssh, whatever else to check that you can get to the server)? For example, if I change the password to my tvh user in Kodi so it's deliberately wrong, I get:

2015-05-24 16:41:14.943 htsp: Got connection from 192.168.2.90
2015-05-24 16:41:14.943 htsp: x.x.x.x: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center (HTSPv8)
2015-05-24 16:41:14.943 htsp: x.x.x.x [ XBMC Media Center ]: Identified as user xbmc
2015-05-24 16:41:14.948 htsp: x.x.x.x [ xbmc | XBMC Media Center ]: Disconnected
2015-05-24 16:41:19.955 htsp: Got connection from x.x.x.x
2015-05-24 16:41:19.955 htsp: x.x.x.x: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center (HTSPv8)
2015-05-24 16:41:19.955 htsp: x.x.x.x [ XBMC Media Center ]: Identified as user xbmc
2015-05-24 16:41:19.960 htsp: x.x.x.x [ xbmc | XBMC Media Center ]: Disconnected

... and when I correct it, I immediately get:

2015-05-24 16:41:24.965 htsp: Got connection from x.x.x.x
2015-05-24 16:41:24.965 htsp: x.x.x.x: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center (HTSPv8)
2015-05-24 16:41:24.966 htsp: x.x.x.x [ XBMC Media Center ]: Identified as user xbmc
2015-05-24 16:41:24.966 htsp: x.x.x.x [ xbmc | XBMC Media Center ]: Privileges raised

... so the lack of anything suggests you're not even getting to the server.

Assuming you are, though, does it work any better if you specify the IP address range (e.g. 192.168.1.0/24 or whatever your subnet format is)?

If you're using a mobile 'phone, is that an external IP address? Have you opened 9981 and 9982 on your router/firewall?

What version of tvh are you running as well - that's a different interface to my version (not-quite-current master)?

(sorry, random thought process...!)

EDIT 3.4 from your other post...

RE: Extra Users - Added by Geoff Lane over 9 years ago

Version 3.4 running on a Raspberry-Pi

Receive stream on another R-Pi running Kodi on home network.

The original user from setup does not show, I assume this is normal.

Router set up to forward port 9982 correctly.

My daughter has accessed the EPG and set a recording via the internet using MY username and password so access seems OK.

Trouble is not sure how to check, I shut down my browser, clear the cache, re-login and it remembers my login details. There must be a time setting somewhere that I am not aware of.
