SAT>IP Config Questions

Added by Anthony Thomas over 9 years ago

I'm considering going over to a SAT>IP setup to simplify things a bit and cut down on the number of computers running. I currently have separate system for TVHeadend and if possible I'd like to use a SAT>IP box and utilise an existing 24/7 server I have running to run TVHeadend connecting to the SAT>IP box (maybe in a VM).

My current setup is

Total 4 DVB tuners on an ubuntu 14.04 system.
2 tuners connected directly to 28.2E
2 tuners connected to diseqc 2.0 switches with 28.2 and 19.2

Is it possible to replicate this setup with, for example, a Grundig GSS.box DSI 400?

I've struggled to find anything that mentions diseqc 2.0 switches.

What is the current best recommend SAT>IP box with 4 tuners?

I've got regular Quad LNBs (not quattro).

hey all,

edited /etc/default/tvheadend as suggested, but TVH still won't recognize the tuner under TV adapters.. :(

did you set the "TVH_USER" to "" (to let it run as root) or did you leave it as "hts"? do you reckon this could have anything to with it at all?

mee, im lost.. :(

big thanks in advance..

ps: which irc channel would i have to access for the DVB-C>IP issue? Generally, i think if i managed to get the Sat>IP tuner into TVH, then I should also be able to get the DVB-C>IP running. In the end the DVB-C>IP is pretty much the same as Sat>IP...

How did you install TVH?

RE: SAT>IP Config Questions - Added by lukas buehl over 9 years ago

I installed in two different virtual boxes (one running Ubuntu 14.02 and the other 15.02) and on a laptop (Ubuntu 14.02). I used tvheadend stable, unstable and even tried beta. However, the one i believe to run best is "trusty"- it also has a "Sat>IP" option under "General". Well.. and "how"? Just added the respective repositories, updated and installed them via apt..

Just something must be wrong, because the tuner just wouldn't show up under TV Adapters...
I thought that the problem could lie in WIFI, i.e. that TVH looks for devices before they are connected, but then Jarozlav wrote (somewhere on the forum) that TVH does an automatic search for devices every hour! So I simply left TVH running overnight(s), but that didnt do the trick yet.
Ps: Also thx for the irc hint - I'm there now, but so far the only answer was that a) devolo's device will just not work and more or less no answer regarding the Fritz! DVB-C>IP at all..

little update:

I enabled logging as described here: https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/14189?r=14337#message-14337

Via that log I could find the correct desc.xml link(s) for the Devolo Sat>IP Tuner and for the Fritz DVB-C>IP Tuner.
I could then edit the startup arguments for TVH.
They now read:

TVH_ARGS=" --satip_xml http://10.0.0.5:8080/devices/SatIPServer_1_desc.xml"
and
TVH_ARGS=" --satip_xml http://10.0.0.3:4900/satipdesc.xml"

Problem is: The devices still don't show up under devices TV adapters...

I've attached the log file, maybe someone sees the problem and could point me to a solution :)

cheers!

Hello Lukas,

for AVM FRITZ DVB-C support try the current development version - it is working nicely for me apart from some smaller glitches!

There has been a patch at the beginning of May.

The biggest downside is currently that only one of the tuners can be used, because the AVM firmware allows only one stream per IP address.

Hi guys,

i know this thread is pretty old but it excatly fits to my setup.

I´m using a digibit R1 satip box.

Everything works, that mean i was able to setup this digibit box.

My problem:

I trying to use more than one stream simultaneously the first stream freeze.
Yes it is freezing not terminated.

An example: i watch "ARD HD" on my first tuner. Everything is fine.
Than i start a second stream with "ZDF HD".
Tuner 2 starts playing and tuner 1 goes to zero bandwith but stays active. The picture in vlc just freeze. But tuner 2 plays correct.
When i stop tuner 2 suddenly tuner 1 goes back to play normal.

I dont know how i can make it to play all 4 tuner simultaneously. Did you face the same problems?

Facts:
Every tuner is working with a single stream.
Using a direct stream from the digitbit let it play streams on all 4 tuners simultaneously. Just tvh play only one stream at the same time.

TVheadend runs at version: HTS Tvheadend 4.0-git893722aae8 on a Synology DS414
My digibit R1 box is on firmware: V1.17.0.120

Hi Anthony,

i have the same hardware/setup like you. But it isnt working. Could you please help me?

Server: Tvheadend 4.2 stable
Sat>IP: Telestar Digbit R1

I have on tuner 1 a (2 to 1) diseqc switch for Astra 19,2 and Hotbird 13,0. But only Hotbird is working. TVHeadend can not switch to Astra.
See below my screenshots.

Tuner2 is ok with astra only. How do I modify the settings to get tuner 1 for diseqc?

Could you please post your settings? I have changed nothing in the digibit, because there are nearly zero options.

RE: SAT>IP Config Questions - Added by M R over 7 years ago

Ok got it by myself.
Seems like my Diseqc Switch is using weird input numbers for a 2 to 1 Switch.
It has Position 2 and 3 (not 1 and 2).
Therefore I need to configure for Tuner 1 4 Position and disable 1 and 4.

Glad to see you've sorted it!

If you need any other info I'll try and help. I've still got 28.2, 19.2, 13.0 running fine.
