Is next step EPG Grabber?

Added by Michael Dullea over 9 years ago

OS is Openelec 5.0.0, and using it's add-ons TVH & HTS 3.9.2496-gd386ed0. I'm scanning USA QAM cable channels. OTA-EPG enabled in adapter parameters (should I enabled that?). The HDHR3 prime adapter is set for ASTC/QAM and works in Windows MC. I created muxes using those log frequencies. The muxes scanned all the channels that WMC showed and listed Service Name, Auto Checking, Network, Mux frequency, Service ID, local channel, and minor channel. However, it did not fill in the Channel column next to enabled.

Goal is to record channels. I assumed I have to figure out how to get the EPG grabber to grab something that can be recorded. In Channel/EPG I show no channels and in EPG Grabber I've tried various settings and it won't/doesn't seem to save anything I try. I would like to grab whatever is simplest to do, happy to sacrifice other benefits, if that in fact is the next step or necessary to record.

What is the next step

Appreciate any guidance

the best thing to do is look into xmltv and find one that gives you all the channels your after and run that within tvheadend.

Thanks Gary, I will start learning about that right now.

Also, I found out why I couldn't map channels in Services. A few channels would not map and by selecting Map All, it mapped none. So I highlighted a couple at a time and that worked and when it didn't I knew it was one of the two causing the problem.

Again, thanks so much for your advice.
