TVHGuide for Android
Added by Thomas Novin over 13 years ago
Anyone tried TVHGuide with success?
All I get is a channel listing. I have tried it on my HTC Sensation (Android 2.3.3).

Thank you for quick reply. Yes, sometimes I got the errors, but sometimes not, please see two subsequent trials below:

RE: TVHGuide for Android - Added by Joshua Welch almost 13 years ago
Two things:
1st: On the help tab what version of TVHeadend are you running?
2nd(and more important): It seems you aren't actually transcoding. I have lines like this:
transcode: MPEG2VIDEO 1280x720 ==> MPEG2VIDEO 341x192
but I do not see those on yours. I think this is the key. Do you know what version of ffmpeg you have? Where did it come from? What is the base system?
RE: TVHGuide for Android - Added by Kristjan Adojaan almost 13 years ago
- TVHeadend is HTS Tvheadend 2.12
- I was thinking, too, that our H264 causes the problems. Estonian DVB-T is broadcasted with MPEG4 (H264). Please see additional information [[http://www.levira.ee/dyna/site/382eng.html]].
Can I force transcoding in TVHeadend conf?
The base is Oneiric 32bit, fresh install.
ffmpeg 0.7.3-4:0.7.3-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 libavutil 51. 7. 0 / 51. 7. 0 libavcodec 53. 6. 0 / 53. 6. 0 libavformat 53. 3. 0 / 53. 3. 0 libavdevice 53. 0. 0 / 53. 0. 0 libavfilter 2. 4. 0 / 2. 4. 0 libswscale 2. 0. 0 / 2. 0. 0 libpostproc 52. 0. 0 / 52. 0. 0
If I use XBMC on a computer in the same network, also via wifi, it works fine. Following log is generated:
Feb 10 23:12:49 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: Got connection from 192.168.1.109 Feb 10 23:12:49 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: 192.168.1.109: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center Feb 10 23:13:05 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: Got connection from 192.168.1.109 Feb 10 23:13:06 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: 192.168.1.109: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center Feb 10 23:13:06 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "192.168.1.109 [ XBMC Media Center ]" subscribing on "ETV", weight: 150, adapter: "Afatech AF9013 DVB-T", network: "levira", mux: "levira: 490,000 kHz", provider: "Levira", service: "ETV", quality: 100 Feb 10 23:13:06 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/levira: 490,000 kHz/ETV: H264 @ #550: Continuity counter error Feb 10 23:13:21 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: 192.168.1.109 [ XBMC Media Center ]: Disconnected Feb 10 23:13:21 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "192.168.1.109 [ XBMC Media Center ]" unsubscribing from "ETV" Feb 10 23:13:22 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: htsp: 192.168.1.109 [ XBMC Media Center ]: Disconnected
It does not seem to transcode, either.
XBMC is the only client that is able to play TVHeadend rtsp stream. I haven't managed with VLC or others. On the other hand - browser-based player on a pc, directly from TVHeadend Configuration, Channels works well, producing following log:
Feb 10 23:20:28 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "HTTP" subscribing on "ETV", weight: 150, adapter: "Afatech AF9013 DVB-T", network: "levira", mux: "levira: 490,000 kHz", provider: "Levira", service: "ETV", quality: 100 Feb 10 23:20:28 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/levira: 490,000 kHz/ETV: H264 @ #550: Continuity counter error Feb 10 23:20:28 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "HTTP" unsubscribing from "ETV" Feb 10 23:20:31 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "HTTP" subscribing on "ETV", weight: 150, adapter: "Afatech AF9013 DVB-T", network: "levira", mux: "levira: 490,000 kHz", provider: "Levira", service: "ETV", quality: 100 Feb 10 23:20:31 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/levira: 490,000 kHz/ETV: H264 @ #550: Continuity counter error, 1 duplicate log lines suppressed Feb 10 23:20:45 meriroos tvheadend[12265]: subscription: "HTTP" unsubscribing from "ETV"
PS.I'm specially thankful for integrating pay-tv card configuration in such an easy way. It was just few clicks to set up NewCS server and link it to TVHeadend.
RE: TVHGuide for Android - Added by Joshua Welch almost 13 years ago
Hmmm that is the same version of ffmpeg I am using, however I compiled my version of tvheadend, maybe that is the difference. I can try yours if you want to give me temp access to it, to see if it is a phone problem.
I can also send you my compiled version of it.
Let me know.

Hi Kristjan,
Indeed, as Joshua says you should at least have some 'transcode' lines per default in the output I think.
How did you get the transcode version ?
There are more then one versions of John Tornblom's TVheadend on https://github.com/john-tornblom/tvheadend/
Make sure you select the Transcode branch, (default is Branch:Master, which, as far as i understand, is just the original TVheadend without anything special...). So select Branch:transcode.
Alex.
RE: TVHGuide for Android - Added by Kristjan Adojaan almost 13 years ago
Hi,
thank you for suggestion.
In the meantime I compiled the Default version, as well as tried with another phone having Android 2.x instead of my own 4.x. Neither helped.
I'm going to try transcode branch now.
RE: TVHGuide for Android - Added by Kristjan Adojaan almost 13 years ago
Already better!
I cloned transcode version. I'm not very familiar with git branches, so I did:
git clone https://github.com/john-tornblom/tvheadend/ git checkout -b transcode origin/transcode git branch -D master
./configure revealed some missing dependencies so I had to
sudo apt-get install libavcodec-dev libswscale-dev
./configure completed without errors but as make gave error webui.c:134:7: error: variable ‘start’ set but not used I had to remove -Werror from line 27 of Makefile
Then make completed normally.
Tested first with XBMC, it worked normally.
Now tested with Android 4 phone but got lot's of errors - and still neither image displayed nor audio.

One more detail. When I try to open browser-plugin based link in my computer, with Chrome or Firefox it will start searching for plugins but does not find any:
No packages with the requested plugins found
The requested plugins are:
text/uri-list decoder
text/html decoder
When I used tvheadend from a deb package it worked fine.
XBMC works fine.
One more comment about transcoding. If I use TVHeadend to save (and ffmpeg to postprocess recording), and MiniDLNA to serve it then on my Android phone BSPlayer Lite is able to display both recorded MKV and MPEG.

Question: HTC desire z (Android version 2.3.3) and on galaxy tablet (Android version 3.2), see the guide ... but if I press play, the screen becomes black and I do not see anything ... obviously if I go back, I see the TV guide.
I have to download some ... pluging??

Make sure you have a recent version of tvheadend.
A new command was added not long ago allowing TVHGuide to get temp http access using a ticket (rather than username/password).
Check out master from git and compile it.

A new command was added not long ago allowing TVHGuide to get temp http access using a ticket (rather than username/password).
Check out master from git and compile it.
Thanks for your help ...
as a version of the HTS Tvheadend I build: 2.12
While the TVHGuide I downloaded 5 days ago from this link: http://john-tornblom.github.com/TVHGuide/download.html
I think the latest version ...
I noticed that if I delete the flag to "prefer external player" I see the video, but in spurts.
If I enable the flag, I see and feel nothing. (BSPlayer is installed)
I have found in TVHGuide what you've described .... Perhaps I have an old version?? If so, where can I download the latest??
thanks
P. S. sorry my bad English ...

So your TVHGuide is new enough, but your tvheadend is too old.
you need to compile a new version of tvheadend using the latest GIT source.

I'm not very expert in ubuntu ... Research in the latest version of TVHeandend I found these sources: andoma-tvheadend-2.99-27-g8f9ac90
Can you confirm that he has found the latest version??
if you ..., I can not install it.
I followed the commands in the readme file, the commands I generate errors ...
Again many thanks to all ....

Similar issues here: The video is shown best in BSplayer however, but not completely smooth. Is this a bandwidth or mobilecpu problem? ( the phone gets rather hot :-) )
I would preferably have a lower res version streamed to my mobile devices, but I am still a bit confused about what branch to use to achieve this: The Andoma, or the john-tornblom-transcoding branch?
Is transcoding now merged with the original branch so that it also decode/transcode ? ( if I request transcodestream in TVHguide?), or does it still send the entire stream ( even though requesting a transcoded one)?
Thanks for any clarification,
Alex.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered the problem of the missing menu button on this app on the HTC one X. If someone could direct me to the location of the config file as a temp fix that would be great.

Confirmed. My Galaxy Tab 10.1 is also missing the menu/settings button on the lasted build download.
Old Galaxy S phone works fine though.

Yeah just tried on HTC wildfire and its working fine except streaming but that isn't really a concern. I'm sure there will be a config file somewhere but I can't locate it , any ideas?

I successfully use the HD2 TVHGuide with TVHeadend from GIT on Ubuntu server 64bit. I miss the function to choose TVHeadend server in the beginning. I want to use for access to multiple servers TVHeadend. And setting the update period of logo tv programs, or update button on Setting page. Especially thank you for this application!
