TBS6985 wont lock or pickup services

Added by Tom Horan almost 11 years ago

Hi folks,
I installed a TBS6985 DVB-S2 card tonight to pickup Astra 28.2 / Sky Freesat channels, but I cannot get the card to lock and pick up any services.

Systems is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, TVHeadend 3.4.27, TBS driver 13097. I have a 6220 DVB-T card too, for Irish Saorview and this is a known working config.

So the existing driver picked up the new 6985 quad card:

# dmesg | grep DVB

I connected an LNB feed from my existing SkyHD box, and in TVHeadend I added DVB Network by location and selected Astra 28.2, and I get 176 Muxes which it scans, but doesnt get a signal:

I tried the szap-s2 and scan-s3 tools also, without any luck:

The dish is a Digiglobe with a dual LNB, it doesnt have the strongest of signals, but I have no problems from the SkyHD box and have been using this for many years. Is this signal just too weak for the TBS card to pick up? I've used the internal power connetions on the card to but it hasnt made any difference. Is there anything in terms of config I can do to try and compensate for the signal?

Thanks,
Tom

As usual, assumption is the mother of all fck ups.

The 6985 card is labeled LNB A, B, C & D on the back.
I assumed this meant it was picked up as adapater0,1,2 & 3 in same order, but it appears adapter0 was LNB D, and continued in reverse. Not a problem if you've got 4 feeds, but when testing on 1 feed this allows room for error.

Thanks for looking!

Tom
