Help & Suggesion Required Regarding Streaming using TVHeadEnd
Added by Arshvinder Singh Sehmi almost 11 years ago
Hi Friends,
I am new to this forum. I have installed TVHeadEnd at my Ubuntu system.
I have a query regarding DVB-S TV Streaming using TVHeadEnd. My query is I want to stream free to air channels that are available in my region. So for that please suggest me what should I go to buy for -
1. Single TV Tuner Card
2. Dual TV Tuner Card
3. Quad TV Tuner Card
There are total 4 Transponder frequencies that I would like to stream from my Ubuntu PC using TVHeadEnd. There are 10 channels in 1 transponder. There are total 40 channels in all transponders.
But I want to stream only 15 channels from all transponders, in the following way -
1. Transponder-1: 4 channels
2. Transponder-2: 2 channels
3. Transponder-3: 4 channels
4. Transponder-4: 5 channels
Please confirm can I do this easily if I go for dual TV Tuner card, Or I need only quad TV Tuner card. Can I stream all these 15 channels from 4 transponders by using single TV Tuner Card in TVHeadEnd?
Please help me and suggest me how many tuners card I purchase.
Thanks & Regards,
ErSehmi

I just want to say that LNB you linked will be perfectly fine(you can get cheaper ones that are just as good though).
after looking at your channel list it seems that splitting the cable could be possible. that is if I'm right in saying that all 5 muxes on that list are on the low gain vertical polarisation. you would only need the single lnb and that splitter to get it to work.
I do want you to know that this is NOT AN OPTIMAL SETUP for it but can work.

OK Thanks a lot Gary Sir. I am feeling very lucky since people in this forum are very very helpful who had provided me valuable suggestions w.r.t my every post.
I will first try with my splitter, after then if required I will buy that LNB from ebay!!!
Once again thanks a lot to everyone!
Thanks & Regards,

Please confirm me one more thing, what hardware I need to view pay TV channels using TBS6985.
TBS3101 2 Crystal Phoenix/Smartmouse Card Reader

Can I use them to view pay TV channels in combination with TBS6985.

they seem like overkill but could work or you could look at a usb smart card reader
that paired with the right setup of oscam is what you'll need.
USB Smart card reader (can find cheaper ones else where)
example: http://www.hidglobal.com/products/readers/omnikey/3121
a useful read
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f11/smartcard-reader-best-80390/
you need to make sure you config the card reader right as it says in that topic they can burn your card out.
