AVerTVHD MCE A180 scan issues / Bonus... Tampa Frequencies
Added by G E almost 11 years ago
Hello,
After months of no access to this card and finally finding out where to download the proper driver; .fw file, I got the card running in Ubuntu 13.10.
After the scan I have 67 scanned channels showing in the list. Three out of 67 channels are analog channals in the Tampa, Florida area. That is all that would map, all the ATSC digital channels would not map.
Apparently the ATSC frequencies are not the proper ones in the listing to scan. NTSC will not scan the frequencies properly since we are now Digital. There is no more Video and Audio carriers as before.
The scan of the ATSC had shown some odd offset of .028 KHZ. I read somewhere there was an issue scanning US ATSC channels in TVheadend, but I can't remember where I have seen that post.
Here are two links to what frequencies should be scanned.

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Television_Frequencies
Any idea what can be done so one can use this card in the US with the proper ATSC frequencies?
Thanks
P.S.
Here is a listing of channel frequencies for the Tampa, Florida area.
First Channel is what shows on your TV. Last Channel is what is the actual brodcast frequency channel

I'm afraid I know nothing about US digital carriers, but there's a common issue on this side of the water where the in-built records of which frequencies to look at are out of date. You can solve it by simply adding the muxes manually, and the information of what muxes/frequencies serve what region is easily available on the web.
Then again, you may have a completely different issue, so feel free to ignore me if that's the case!

Hello Prof Yaffle,
Thanks for the quick reply. As you can see, I just added an update to my post. This is a list of the frequencies in my area of the US.
I am wondering if the frequency table that TVheadend uses is embedded in the code or is it a table that I can access for editing? If it is accessible, I'll go that route and properly set the frequencies in that table. And if it works I'll post the new table here so the devs can update the program package.
Take Care,
G

I think the frequencies - certainly the UK ones - are stored outside of tvheadend, in the V4l package or similar.
However, I also saw this ... might give you some clues as to what else to search on:

Thanks,
I'll look into that.
