Found services, can't find channels
Added by Evan Leibovitch over 11 years ago
Hello,
I appear to be stuck at a point of setup and I'm not sure what to do next. I've looked at other forum postings but none seem to have this issue.
The installation is "build 3.4~raring" on a current Ubuntu installation. Tuner is an HDHomerun dual, live TV (via WMC) works and the DVB installation for it seems OK. I have created an account on Schedules Direct, and running /usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd with my password seems to give results.
So far I've been successful at getting muxes, and tvheadend has discovered 20 services from them, but I can't seem to get beyond that. "Map TV services to channels" appears not to function. In the debug I see "web interface: Service probe started on "HDHomeRun ATSC 1", but nothing else. The services are unmapped.
I'm tried to access TVheadend from XBMC, but as soon as I even try Live TV on XBMC, having enabled the tvheadend interface, it crashes.
Any help is appreciated. I've attached a recent snip of the log.

Same exact issue here. Seems specific to those of us using HDHomeRun tuners and ATSC. I've read you can manually add the channels, but I cannot yet get it working.
Try adding a Channel name manually. Then go to Channel tab and you should see it there. For me it will not play the channel. Perhaps you will have better luck.
Hopefully someone else can help.

Hi Brian,
After digging around in the forums and bug reports, it seems that this is being addressed here: http://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/issues/1429
Now all I gotta do is figure out how to build the latest rev from GIT... until now I've been depending on the Ubuntu repository.
I wonder who we might ask to update that?

I don't know. I'm using Openelec at the moment. I did discover that even though the VLC player does not play the channel, my XBMC client does show the channel properly. So after manually adding channel names things are working well. I'm impressed at how much better Tvheadend works over NPVR.

I've run into the same issue using a USB AverMedia Hybrid Volar Max and scanning for ATSC channels on Linux Mint 12. The only thing different is that I'm using a "compiled from tarball" version 3.4 of TVH.
From the config page:
Hardware
Device path:
/dev/dvb/adapter0
Device name:
H826 0 ATSC
Host connection:
USB (480 Mbit/s)
Frequency range:
42000 kHz - 862000 kHz, in steps of 0 kHz
The multiplexes and services tab both populate just fine but the "Map TV to Services" button doesn't seem to do anything. I'm going to try and find the channel frequencies for my area and add some channels by hand.
Any other ideas of things to try?
Thanks!
