Ubuntu 12.04.... and win nova hd s2.... what am I doing wrong?????? Help Please!

Added by alan dorgan over 11 years ago

Hi guys....

I appear to be getting somewhere and no where fast! I need your help and assistance... Please...

I was on 12.10 but had to revert back to 12.04 I can install and configure tvheadend, no issues, with a hauppauge win nova hd s2 and winTV-nova-TD-500,
They are found in the dmesg, but when I try to scan tvheadend shows the device at 100% signal quality even though there is no physical connection to the Sat dish or the Teristrial arial...

When I look at the status of the adapter they report 0% signal...

I have removed tvheadend by dpkg -R and fitted only the sat card... reinstalled tvheadend, and it shows exactly the same issue 100% signal quality and 0% signal strength.

I have tested the singals in a Triax set top box and the sat signal and TV signal are good....

here is the output of ps -ef |grep tvheadend:

tvheadend@tvheadend:~$ ps -ef |grep tvheadend
avahi 787 1 0 00:01 ? 00:00:00 avahi-daemon: running [tvheadend.local]

tvheadend@tvheadend:~$

Here is the output of dmesg from the winTV nova hd s2 only ... and you'll see it finds and loads the card:

Hi Johan,

Sorry I didn't have much joy, The last time I looked at this I got the
channels to be found via the sat card, but I could not join the stream....

This was 3 months ago.... and I'm not near the box for a while...

I found out that the LNB settings in tvheadend have impact on if HD channels can be received. I still figguring out the correct settings for the LNB I have and how to find the correct info.
I know I have to select a specific type and port number for the LNB I have.
