Ubuntu Driver For Digital Devices DuoFlex S2 Mini PCIe
Added by Daniel Hitchcock almost 12 years ago
Hi.
First time poster, intermediate linux knowledge, first time TVHeadend user.
I have just recently (yesterday) decided to make the switch from Windows Home Server 2011 with MediaPortal TV Server to Ubuntu Server and TV Headend.
I have been trying to install the drivers for my Digital Devices DuoFlex S2 Mini PCIe TV card but have come to a bit of an abrupt stop.
I discovered that there are no Linux drivers for my particular TV card (first D'oh moment)! After a bit of googling, I found this little gem:
It contains a link to a website here:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mystique_SaTiX-S2_Dual
And also contains a duoflex_0.diff patch:
And another patch (ngene_shutdown_workaround_1.diff) which addresses some sleep issues:
Right, hallelujah! I thought,
First hurdle: The firmware link included in the driver build wiki link above is missing! (Second D'oh moment)! I found it here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/all/linux-firmware-nonfree/filelist
I cloned the files from the mercurial source as stated, and tried applying the duoflex_0.diff patch - This failed and I do not have the knowledge to tweak it to work - The second patch ngene_shutdown_workaround_1.diff applies fine!!
Please can someone help me out?? I feel that I am so close to getting it all working - And have thoroughly done my homework and exhausted all other avenues!!
Any help will be greatly received!!
Many thanks!! (and sorry for the essay)
Dan.

Dan, have you checked out this thread: http://www.vdr-portal.de/board16-video-disk-recorder/board85-hdtv-dvb-s2/113367-aktuelle-treiber-für-octopus-ddbridge-cines2-ngene-ddbridge-duoflex-s2-duoflex-ct-cinect-sowie-tt-s2-6400-teil-2/? It's in German but should get you started with Digital Devices drivers. This guy UFO maintains a media_build fork with patched drivers for ngene and ddbridge hardware.
I haven't tried it out myself (still running on "old" CaBIX cards), though.
Harald

Thanks Harald,
The links I posted above were from the same forum (different discussion though).. The patches I posted above were created by UFO too...
The link that you posted looks to be the one that I was after though.. Thank you very very much!! Will try tonight and post my successes and failures

I'm running a DuoFlex S2 with an Octopus PCIe card. The drivers were part of DVB in Mythbuntu 12.04. Note, I did not install a raw Ubuntu.
Back with Ubuntu 10.04, I installed UFO's drivers but had to re-install them each time Ubuntu got a new kernel version. And since I ran with automated updates, I got surprised several times when the updates included a kernel fix. So now, I'm content with the standard ngene driver.
