[SOLVED]Cannot Access Tvheadend Through 9981 Port
Added by Mike Whalon 9 months ago
Attempting to configure tvheadend, but seem to be blocked. Thought it might be Mint firewall (UFW). I disabled the firewall, but still blocked.
OS: Linux Mint 21.3
KODI 20.0
TV: Hauppague WinTV-HVR-2250 firmware downloaded and installed.
Tvheadend downloaded and installed from Tvheadend webpage (i.e., 'sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mamarley/tvheadend-git' (unstable)). During install, Tvheadend requested Administrator ID and password as expected. Attempt to access Tvheadend through localhost:9981 (i.e., 'http://localhost:9981') fails. I simply get a 'failure to connect' error (see attachment). Somewhere I'm missing a step in linking all this up. Can someone provide some guidance?
Thanks,
Mike952

You don't explicitly say, but I assume, that the Firefox client of which you have posted an image is running on the same machine that is hosting Tvheadend. Confirmation would be useful.
Assuming this to be the case, have you tried:
http://127.0.0.1:9981
or
http://<ip address of Tvheadend box on local LAN>:9981
Actually, the easiest thing to do is issue the following command from a terminal window on the Tvheadend host:
sudo netstat -tulpen | grep tvh
Post the output to the above command. It should show what address(es)/port(s) tvheadend is listening on.

Thanks for the response. This one had me perplexed. Based on your comment (i.e., Firefox and Tvheadend on same machine), I re-attempted Tvheadend configuration this morning, and voila - success.
I was a little tired last night, but believe I was (lazy) attempting to access Tvheadend using a secondary system (same network). Anyway, I think I am all good here.
Thanks much,
