failed to disable tone with Montage Technology M88DS3103

Hi Everyone,

I wonder if you anyone has seen the error "failed to disable tone with Montage Technology M88DS3103". I have had this working in the past on an older version of Raspberry Pi (can't remember the version). I recently decided to start looking at this again as we get poor Digital TV Signal where we are. Our only option is Freesat.

I remember in the past that I had to connect the DVB-S Tuner, then connect power, then connect USB. Just in case I have miss remembered this I have tried to connect in different order such as USB, Power, the boot the Raspberry Pi and so on. I do not remember getting any errors like this when I had this etup in the past however this time around it seams to be a bit more complicated. I would like to get this working to experiment with using TVHeadend with PLEX. I already have a HDHomeRun which gets me the basic channels locally but unfortunately for the rest I need to sue a Satellite dish.

Hi!

I have the same problem on a new Pi5
I managed to get it to work a year or so ago on a Pi4, but for the life of me I cant remember how!! I know we have to save the firwmare onto /lib/firmware which I have done for the pi5, but still no go.

I will try to copy the firmware from pi4 to pi5 tonight as on the pi5 I used a version from the internet - maybe that's causing problems

Tom, I've managed to get it to work without issues,

had to update the same version of firmware I had on the pi4. luckily i didnt wipe the SSD before grabbing the file.

let me know if you need it or if you are still stuck.
