Raspberry Pi 4
Added by Adrian Carpenter about 3 years ago
Hi,
I've used TV headend for quite a while now, my setup consists on Xbox TV tuners connected to a mini-pc. Each tuner is tuned to a single MUX (where I am in the UK there are 6 muxes which cover all terrestrial channels), and I have 6 of them, so any channel can be viewed or recorded at the same time.
I use Emby which uses the headend streams to expose to the players.
All good.
I've finally got around to tidying things up and this has involved creating a couple of enclosures for the tuners and I'm currently designing an enclosure for the device that will run headend.
I'm considering using a Pi 4 as opposed to the current solution, but I'm wondering whether it will have enough power to handle this, i.e the 6 USB tuners.
Has anybody done anything similar?

Sorry, I thought I'd replied to this, I wrote a reply then must not have hit send.
Thanks. When I meant power, I meant power as in bandwidth on the USB and enough CPI power to handle the passing on of the streams to any clients.
Since I posted, I have gone a different route and have a virtual machine running on my server, but I've passed through one of the USB host controllers on my motherboard to the virtual machine, so the VM is running on powerful hardware and directly using the USB host controller I have everything connected to.
However, I am still battling a problem I've had on every setup I have tried thus far, that is that I get driver crashes when using more than 1 Xbox tuner at a time, this is a problem I've seen reported many times o the net but have not yet found any solutions.
Thanks

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 with 2gig of ram. It has 3 Playstation tuners connected to it. Each Playstation tuner has 2 internal tuners making a total of 6.
It works fine with TVHeadend server. The operating system is Dietpi. It has an external USB3 harddrive connected to it.
