TvHeadend + multiswitch + TBS6909x
Added by Tomislav Budic over 3 years ago
Hi everyone,
I have TBS MOI PRO + TBS6909x + standalone multiswitch 13/12(see atachment for my setup), centos, tvheadend
I have tried everything from official manuals, but cannot set it up, cannot get signal on any input.
I have checked cables with standalone dvbs receiver, they all work.
So please, if anyone have similar setup like i do, can you post your setup in tvheadend
Official manuals are very confusing to me (specially regarding mode0, mode1, mode2) and my linux knowledge is limited.
any help would be great for me, because i am stuck
thank you
Tomislav

Did you manage to set up the card?
Reading the description for the card:
https://www.tbsdtv.com/products/tbs6909-dvb-s2-8-tuner-pcie-card.html
Connections: PCI Express - 4x RF IN
TBS6909 has 8 Tuners & Demodulators, but it only has 4 inputs, because it has a multiswitch inside,
defining 4 inputs to receive 4 single polarity signals( Input0=VL; Input 1=VH; Input 2=HL; Input3=HH)
So if I understand this properly, allowing you to receive input from multiswitch that has 4 satellites connected?
(Sat A - VL, VH, HL, HH),
(Sat B - VL, VH, HL, HH),
(Sat C - VL, VH, HL, HH),
(Sat D - VL, VH, HL, HH).
How do you get that amount of coax cables from the roof inside your house?

There is a 3 variants
A. quad RF cable /color separated inside fore easy management/
B. 4 indipendent cables
C. optical LNB

I know an old thread but I have exactlty the same setup and I also have been reading for days all sorts of manuals but not one is explaining properly the mode you need to set it, nor how to setup tvheadend in a correct way.
I have a default decoder (Gigablue) with 4 tuners that is servering the whole house with client TV's and that is working fine. But I need more channels to be played at the same time so I bought a 6909x-v2 card and want the PC with the card in it to do the same like the "server gigablue"
I need to know how to setup the card to begin with.
I can make muxes on 1 network (for example BVN TV on Astra 1 on 19.2E) and that works fine to look at that 1 channel. But when i make a 2th mux with aother frequency for a second sattelite (Astra 3 on 23.5€) I get the services for Astra 1, not Astra 3.
So I must be doing something wrong with the card and that does not do any diseq switching.
My card is on mode=1 like stated in the manual
Hope anybody can help cause the TBS support is not helping, send emails and no reply.
Greetings
Tom

Hi Tom,
you are doing it right.
although I am curently not using TvHeadend, i used to configure it the way you did. Just try to switch AB, BA combinations.
right now I am using Mportal on windows and it is same as in TV Headend, see picture
Hope you know that with this kind of setup (mode 1, 4 rec out on multiswitch to 4 inputs on 6909x) you can stream/watch 4 diferent transponder freqv at the same time. only in mode0 you can watch 8 different transponders(i did not tested this mode)
I also have enigma2 box (tuner config is exact as in tvheadend), so just copy tuner config from your Gigabox to TVH config, if there is still problem maybe check again mode config: "At the every beginning, you have to create configuration file under the Linux system directory:
/etc/modprobe.d/stid135.conf. The content of the configuration file: options stid135 mode=1. After
configuration completed, please reboot your computer"
hope i helped you
regards
Tomislav

hi, Mark
thanks for your reply,
I have 4 independent cables.
I did manage to set it up via trial/mistake method, and it took me some time

care to share a link to that windows server? Mportal? I don't know it.
For me it just seems that TVH is not doing the diseq but I could be wrong, just want to know if anybody has a working setup.
Also the muxes loaded from the TVH are so old that none are correct anymore. Is there not a way to import it from somewhere that has correct muxes?

Until recently I configured TVH the sam way you did, and worked for me, and I have exact setup as You
4-port switch (universal LNB)
AA- 16E
AB- 19E
BA- 13E
yes, predefined muxes are not up to date, but i watch few of them, so it is not problem for me to manually scan. I don know how to import them, but i am sure there is a way. Search in this forum.
at the moment I am using mportal 1 installed on windows 7, and for FTA channels is working great, but not so happy with oscam. I think i will go back to TVH, but Linux and drivers are pain in the a..

Hello, I am currently struggling with the same problem you have addressed here. I also don't know what mod to set for my TBS6909
I have a 17/12 multiswitch
How do I set my TB tuner to correctly switch satellite positions?
I want to get Astra 23.5 and Eutelsat 16E for now
Is it still possible to receive 8x TP together with multiswitch 17/12?
for example, 6x Astra 23.5 and 2x Eutelsat 16E
Thank you for your reply.
