"No input source available" with minisatip SAT-IP Serve

Added by Udo Giacomozzi about 4 years ago

I've got an essentially working Tvheadend setup for 2-3 years, but now want to swap the Triax TSS 400 Satip Server in favor of a a Digibit R1 server and [custom firmware](https://github.com/jampy/satip-axe/tree/minisatip-socket-patch), so that the stream is served by [minisatip](https://github.com/catalinii/minisatip) (at IP 10.0.1.25).

The SAT-IP Server works fine using "SatIP DVBViewer" windows software, however TvHeadend fails to accept the Digibit as input source.

Config details:

What am I missing??

Some additional setup details:
  • Tvheadend 4.2.1 on Synology NAS in Docker container
  • I've got a custom-built triple DVB-T server on Raspberry Pi (also minisatip) working fine with Tvheadend (IP 10.0.1.18)
  • Currently (for testing) only one of the four tuners of the Digitbit R1 receiver is connected to a port of the multiplexer of the satellite dish
  • I've set different "device IDs" for the minisatip servers, but Tvheadend only shows the number for the (working) DVB-T server, not for the DVB-S server (see screenshot)

Remove extra "Satellite positions" if not used "1" is enough
Do you create network to attach to inputs?
Is network contain real transponder parameters?

Thanks for your reply.

I do have networks, yes:

Note that when I additionally activate the (still powered on) Triax server using options `--satip_xml http://10.0.1.22:80/rootDescr --satip_xml http://10.0.1.18:9090/desc.xml --satip_xml http://10.0.1.25:8080/desc.xml --trace satip, service, mpegts, subscription -d -S` then I can watch programs just fine (Tvheadend always uses the Triax server then).

If you're interested in screenshots with all three servers active (Triax TS 400, Digibit R1 via minisatip, DVB-T via minisatip) have a look here:

Both the Triax and Digibit receivers are connected to the same Switch, although the Digibit only has one cable connected, currently.

  • reducing "satellite positions" did not help. What's that anyway?
  • Do I explicitly need to link those network to the SAT-IP servers? I could not find any way to do so...
  • whats the "SAT>IP source number"? could that be the problem?

RE: "No input source available" with minisatip SAT-IP Serve - Added by Udo Giacomozzi about 4 years ago

Oh my! I just realized that i also need to manually enable the "Position" and assign a network to it, like so:

So, for a SAT-IP Server to work, one has to...

  • manually / explicitly enable each single tuner
  • manually / explicitly enable each single position
  • manually / explicitly assign each position to a network

You see, I did that once for the Triax, but this irritates me again and again (and I looked at those "Parameters" panels for hours...).

Ok, so it seems to work now. :-)

As a last question, could you please explain to me what those "positions" mean?

See Muxes tab, and add there some real transponder to your network "DVB-S Network"

Excuse me, what do you mean? I have quite a lot of muxes there.

As said in my earlier post, the setup is working now.

I was just wondering, what's the exact meaning of those tuner "positions" that default to 4.

RE: "No input source available" with minisatip SAT-IP Serve - Added by Udo Giacomozzi about 4 years ago

Well, the tuner is attached using 4 cables to a multiswitch.

Wouldn't setting 4 positions for each tuner give me more choices (ie. that should work IMHO), especially when streaming multiple channels at the same time?
