[SOLVED] Missing some (but not all) HD channels
Added by Spencer Cummings over 5 years ago
Hi,
first post for me, (aside from the one about registration issues!), so hopefully in the right place...
I've got THV set up on a Pi zero, using the TV Hat board from the RPi foundation, which is a Sony CXD2880 DVB-T2 tuner.
All seems well apart from from some missing HD channels...I can watch channels through the OSMC and Kodi front ends I have set up on a Pi 3 and my desktop PC.
My coverage check (Digital UK) tells me I should get 16 HD channels, but I'm only seeing 6 at the moment, BBC 1 & 2, ITV, C4, C5, and CBBC.
The missing ones are BBC 4, BBC News, Al Jazeera, C4+1, 4seven, QVC, QVC Beauty, RT, Quest, and CBeebies.
I can see all the SD versions of the missing channels, with the exception of Al Jazeera (can't actually recall seeing that at all when I plugged into the TV tbh).
I've connected to one of the TVs in the house and retuned and can see all the HD channels, which leads me to believe I've missed something when setting up.
I'm pointing at the Hannington transmitter as recommended by Digital UK...at least I'm pointing at the bearing specified, which is the same direction as all my neighbours.
I can see in the Muxes tab in config that 4 of the mux scans failed, those for 562MHz, 634MHz, 658MHz, and 682MHz.
I can also see that for some muxes not all services have been mapped: 626MHz has 31 of 46, 642MHz jas 12 of 13, and 650MHz has 23 of 25.
I'm new to TVH and have to be honest gotten a bit lost...I've searched for answer but not had any luck so far, hopefully someone can help!
Happy to provide more details if need be, but I'm hoping the above information will help someone point me to the (no doubt screamingly obvious) answer that I've missed.
Thanks in advance!

The mux info is out of date, use http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/trade/RG26+5UD/NA/0/NA and manually add them. There's a frequency table here
Btw, I'm using a Pi TV Hat and an RPi3 and it's fine
If you're still stuck reply here and I'll help you out!

Mark,
thanks for getting back to me, but I fear I may need to take you up on that offer of more help!
Am I adding muxes, or services, or both manually?
If you can give me an example using one of the missing channels I should be able to go from there.
Yup, the Pi 3 is an excellent base for Kodi (OSMC is this case)...and good to know the TV Hat works well.
Thanks again for the help..,

You only need to add muxes tvheadend will get the channel "service" info from the mux during scan.

You're missing muxes not channels Here's an example of COM 8 (or COM 7, I can't remember what BBC News is on from Sutton Coldfield)

Mark,
thanks for that example...after manually adding COM7 and COM8 and rescanning all appears well in the world.
Based on your screen shot I can see you've got some muxes set to 'ignore'...presumably I can/should do the same for the muxes that failed to scan?
They are all for RF Channles that are not associated with Hannington according to Digital UK.
Thanks very much for your help in getting this sorted!

The ones I've set to ignore are just local muxes I can't receive.
Glad to hear you got it working in the end!
