TVHeadend + Sat>IP + HDhomerun + FreeBSD iocage

Added by C G over 6 years ago

Hi all,

Just hoping to find out if anybody has TVHeadend 4.2.6 working on FreeBSD in an iocage with network based receivers (i.e. hdhomerun + megasat SAT>IP)?

The iocage was created on FreeNAS 11.1 and tvheadend installed using "pkg install tvheadend"
Everything thing seems to install fine, tvheadend sees both the hdhomerun and the megasat SAT>IP.

It is able to scan the mux's and detect services on both.
It is able run the eppgrab correctly too from what I can see.
The recordings work and as is the playback.

The problems are only with trying to to stream live tv from either of the hdhomerun or the megasat SAT>IP via vlc or the TVHclient on iOS.
As tvheadend is able to record with no issues I don't think there are any issues with how tvheadend is connecting to the tuners.
Tried using the various stream profiles (pass, matroska etc) but no luck

The issue seems similar to the other post "Unable to play livetv from iptv network"
https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/30468?r=30508#message-30508

From the logs I am also getting the

....... Status changed to [Hardware input]
........Status changed to [Hardware input] [Input on service]
........ Status changed to [Hardware input] [Input on service] [Demuxed packets]
........ Status changed to [Hardware input] [Input on service] [Demuxed packets] [Reassembled packets]

which is then followed shortly by the "client hung up" message

The same hdhomerun and megsat>ip server work fine with tvheadend running on a raspberry pi running librelec

Not sure is this is network, iocage or freebsd related issue
Any pointers on if this is possible or where to look next are much appreciated.

Cheers,
CG

Interesting to see other FreeBSD users here... I had Tvheadend working with a DVB-T dongle but could not find drivers for my DVB-S2 dongle so reluctantly gave up. Would give another go if I could find drivers for a PCTV DVB-S2 Stick 461e

According to

https://wiki.freebsd.org/WebcamCompat

PCTV DVB-S2 Stick 460e is supported but requires tda10071 firmware dvb-fe-tda10071.fw but I was unable to find this.
