UK Crystal Palace transmitter changes

Added by Allan Stevens over 6 years ago

After a few days of head scratching, I managed to add the new transmitters/muxs (COM 7 & 8) for crystal palace. Details shared below, hopefully it will help others.

I got the details from the following sites.

I've added these new mixes but no channels found.

What much is BBC One HD on I cannot find it? I have all the SD channels.

BBC ONE HD is on PSB3, that has not changed, so mux should be added as normal when you first setup in tvh and choose crystal palace.

mux7 and 8 should included the following

7:
5USA +1
5Spike+1
CBS Action +1
CBS Reality +1
Vintage TV
Quest Red +1
Keep It Country TV
Pick+1 TV
BBC News HD
Al Jazeera HD
Channel 4+1 HD
4seven HD
RT HD
Al Jazeera HD
Bollywood HD
Trans World Radio

8:
Rocks & Co
5STAR +1
More4+1
Showcase HD
Together
PBS America
FreeSports
Forces TV
BBC FOUR HD
QVC HD
QVC Beauty HD
BT Showcase HD
CBeebies HD

PSB3 545833000 is not returning anything either :(

The following all work:
490mhz
506mhz
514mhz
529.833mhz
586mhz

I'm near crystal palace too.

Any idea what my issue could be?

What does turbo Vs dvbt2 mean?

I just added the mux with the setting attached and it scanned the channels fine (i'm out in east london/essex). I think it needs to be DVB-T2, make sure all the other values are the same as the screenshots. Including FEC low, you will need to type 'NONE' as it's not an option.

Not sure what else to suggest i'm afraid, i'm fairly new to TVH only been using it a month or so.

@A C

What tuner are you using?

RE: UK Crystal Palace transmitter changes - Added by A C over 6 years ago

PCTV Triple stick 292e si2168

Allan would you kindly screen shot your PSB3 mix config? Thanks

I use a number of si2168 based tuners & I'm able to receive PSB3 fine from Sutton. Although I'm using AUTO values where possible..

I have the same card but version 2.

Thanks all.

I've tried copying all of these configs and none seem to work for PSB3 Sutton or Crystal Palace.

So frustrating. The mux just says FAIL.

The youview box running off the same main aerial picks it up. Out of ideas here.

Are there any detailed log files I could look at too see if there's a more fundamental issue?

I pickup around 124 normal free view channels.

Stop tvh and try with w_scan

sudo apt-get install w-scan

then

w_scan -cGB -ft

It you don't get the mux with that, the signal might be too weak.

Lots of CRC errors any idea why?

Not sure how to interpret this.

RE: UK Crystal Palace transmitter changes - Added by Mark Clarkstone over 6 years ago

The si tuners can be a bit weird sometimes. One minute they'll be happy & send the correct data and other times they just throw a fit.

It also varies depending on the firmware used (I'm using 4.0.25) and I still get a similar problem every now and again. increasing retune to 1 sometimes helps. (by retune I mean "retune #" in tvheadend).

Try the w_scan again. If you get CRC errors on the same freq it could be your signal. If you don't it might be the tuner having a wobble.

Upgrade your firmware & try again :).

Where do I get latest firmware from for Linux?

Where do I enter the retune setting cli or web gui?
