xmltv: No output from "/usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd"
Added by Blake Morgan almost 13 years ago
I keep running into an error attempting to download my tv listings into tvheadend. When I click the XMLTV "save configuration button in tvheadend I get the following error "xmltv: No output from "/usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd", but if I execute the same /usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd from the command line, it connects to the SchedulesDirect/Tribune server and downloads data. Any ideas?

Different user then the user that tvheadend is running at. Make sure you login as the user that is running tvheadend and configure the grabber using that user id. (or copy the .xmltv dir from the user you use at the command line the hts users home dir. Make sure all the permissions are correct.)

Thanks Hein, that helped. I copied the .xmltv directory to /home/hts and now it is pulling scheduling, but I think I may need to adjust the permissions and/or ownership of a file or directory that is incorrectly specified. tvheadend is not importing the scheduling to the EPG:
xmltv: /usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd: Parsing completed. XML contained 21 channels, 4458 events, 0 new events injected in EPG
Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Tvheadend tries to use the xmltv feed to enrich the eit data. This matching/enriching is not always perfect. If you are getting a complete xmltv feed for your channels, you could disable the eit and only use the xmltv feed to populate the epg.
Disabling the eit data feed is asomething that is available in the latest git version, and can be set per channel.

Thanks Hein, I think that helped me too. I now get a download message saying that the XML contained channels and events.
However no new events were injected into the EPG. The guide is blank. Am I still not there?
One other complication may be due to me not having any TV adapters showing (I have a different issue here and have a question in another thread regarding hdhomerun).

if you have not dvb adapters then there is no channels. Tvheadend tries to link the xmltv data to the channels, but because they are not there, it can not insert anything.
See my comment in the other thread about the hdhomerun.

Yes, I thought that might be the root cause. I need to solve my other problem first.
