Support request
Added by Davide Composto about 7 years ago
I installed tvh on a ubuntu server and i tried to configure it by webgui. I had insert (before reading guide) an m3u8 container and now it's blocked. Like user the response is continuous cycle of like these message "2017-09-14 00:54:04.054 [WARNING] libav: AVFormatContext: Failed to open segment of playlist 0" and webgui is slow and don't respond perfectly. I tried to delete the network created but I can't: at next access it is same there. I tried to delete (following a thread) all folder /home/hts/.hts/tvheadend, but the problem remain. Like superuser, tvheadend doesn't start not even, crashes. Please can anyone help me? I was very happy that it was installed and function succesfully...

Sounds like you're using unstable, so issues are to be expected, please use the stable version. But if you wish to continue with unstable untick "Use A/V library" for the IPTV network.

Just out of curiosity, how's he supposed to do that when the stable repo is apparently borked?

My version is 4.3.xx and yes it isn't version stable. I'm looking wiki about stable version https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/AptRepository
under usage, but i don't would make mistake and i don't understand what meaning
"Note: if you install more than one suite you will only ever get packages from the one holding the most recent version number, so the order of priority would be:
unstable > stable-4.2 > stable"
Can i remove correctly my actual version, deleting the complete folder "tvheadend"? sorry for my basic skills

The stable repository is (hopefully only temporarily) out of commission, see http://tvheadend.org/issues/4547 (especially the last few comments). But when it is back up, you can use the instructions at http://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/AptRepository (see the section headed "Usage"). But first you will probably want to run sudo apt purge tvheadend to remove the version you have now (but that will remove your existing configuration; you could TRY sudo apt remove tvheadend instead but I am not certain if the stable version will be able to read and use a configuration created by the unstable version without problems). And after doing that you should delete the reference to the unstable version in your /etc/apt/sources.list file (use sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list to edit the file, actually you can probably just change the word "unstable" to "stable-4.2", so the line will read deb https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/deb xenial stable-4.2 assuming you are using Ubuntu Server 16.04, and you should be good to go). Then reinstall Tvheadend and it should get the stable version.
BUT DON'T DO THIS UNTIL THE STABLE REPO IS BACK UP!!! Otherwise you will have deleted what you have now and will not be able to replace it with the stable version. I am not a developer so I can't tell you when it will be back, I guess just watch that issue page and see if there is any further activity, or wait for someone on the development team to tell us it's back in operation.

Yes, sorry, I meant release! At the time I was thinking of the stable repo being broken so mistakenly typed stable instead of release.

Oh, okay, I just wondered if maybe there was a backup repo for the stable version or something.
I really hope you guys are able to get the stable repo back online soon, and that it's not a major hassle! You did have backups, right?
Thanks for all the effort you put into Tvheadend!

both commands respond me Impossible find tvheadend, so I think to delete folder. In etc/apt/sources.list there aren't any link wich refers to tvheadend ...mmm...now i try to follow "Usage" guide that you linked
Edit: or I wait for your councils... yes, I have already said that think Tvheadend has great potentially so I would at least try it
RE: Support request - Added by Davide Composto about 7 years ago
Nothing...nothing. I do :
- sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 379CE192D401AB61
DONE - echo "deb https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/deb xenial stable-4.2" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
DONE - sudo apt-get update
DONE - sudo apt-get install tvheadend
Impossible find tvheadend package

It's a case of triggering [Doozer] again so that they build without the dirty tag & things should go back to normal, but I don't have permission to do it.
I think there were two problems that occurred.
- The bintray clean-up worked a little too well or bugged somewhere.
- Some of the uploaded packages were marked dirty but somehow got published causing upgrade issues, and were later removed by the clean-up. Even now I can see one "dirty" package remaining.
I'm looking into maybe mirroring the bintray repo somewhere else but have it delayed by a few hours. I'll also setup Doozer to provide builds (to bintray) from my fork as a backup (which is just like the main tvh git anyway) See below.
Thanks for all the effort you put into Tvheadend!
Davide Cavalca, change "stable-4.2" to "release-4.2". You'll be able to use stable-4.2 once the issues have been resolved.
EDIT:
I've now configured Doozer to build and push to my Bintray repo as a backup, it [my repo] now supports all the same packages as the main tvh repo plus Raspbian (Jessie/Stretch), Debian Sid and some newer Ubuntu flavours built by Travis-CI!

Mark Hunting Clarkstone i'll try it
RE: Support request - Added by Davide Composto about 7 years ago
Oh yeah, it's starting downloading....very thanks
I'm now in configuration page, and i'm so happy to finally can "working" with this program.
Just enough to prevent to make disaster again: If i understand correctly the guide, i can add just a stream (unlike file with extension mp.ts) utilizing pipe://stream_url. I would to create lan TV with free list italian tv "infogw", so i think there isn' problem if i set "number of stream > 1", still a thousand thanks
