NOOB

Hello,

I am new to tvheadend and to the RPi. I'm attempting to install and get tvheadend running on my RPi. When following the directions on this site I keep hitting a brick wall.

I have the RPi running Jessie. I'm rather new to Linux commands and am doing my best to try and figure out my error. My desire is to run tvheadend backend on my RPi and kodi. I have successfully gotten other PVR programs to work utilizing a PC/Windows as the server.

Can someone type out the specific commands for me to use to get tvheadend installed and running on the RPi? When I type what is in the directions on this site I keep getting errors.

Thanks

If you don't mind working thru a GUI...you can try installing the OpenElec distro on your Pi. It's basically a Kodi/XBMC system that has tvheadend already in the available pvr servers and clients libraries.

The installation instructions are pretty easy to follow. Just download the image you need for your Pi...and then follow the instructions for making your boot drive (based on whether you're on a PC/Mac/etc.).
I'm using this http://openelec.tv/get-openelec/category/7-raspberry-pi2-builds for my Pi3.
And followed the instructions here http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/HOW-TO:Installing_OpenELEC to build the boot SD card (on a Mac here...just fyi).

Good luck.
