How to configure backup services for a channel?

Added by Jens Kammann over 8 years ago

With my tvheadend configuration I have three options for receiving a given channel: First (and preferred) is using the signal from a SAT-IP, Second possibility gets the signal from IPTV via DSL and third option is obtaining the stream via HTTP from the Internet.

Is there an option to define a primary service for a channel? I notes that under Channel / Advanced setting / Services I can tick multiple services for a single channel. However there seems to be no special order when tvheadend selects a service. I end up more or less randomly with the service obtained from SAT-IP, IPTV and Internet stream.
Since SAT reception provides highest bitrate, I am looking for a way to set this as default/preferred with the other two service being backup in case SAT-IP fails (unfortunately my Inverto IPLNB sometimes stops responding)

Of course I could define three different channels, each using one of the three signal sources. But this is not very user friendly as each tv programme appears three times in the channel list.

Any idea how to accomplish this?

It can be done by setting priority on each network. But the 3 priority levels will be enable for all available services

fisrt level = SAT-IP
second = your DSL IPTV
third = Internet HTTP stream

It must result:

try SAT-IP > if not available try > DSL IPTV > if not available try > HTTP stream > if not available > no input detected

    (1-1/1)
