TVH on RPi2 as Sat>IP Server (port 554, running as root) - problems with panasonic TV

Added by hans flauscher over 8 years ago

Hi there,

I've been setting up TVH on a RPi2 yesterday, latest stable release. I run the service with "-u root" to be able to set the SatIP server to port 554. Source in my case is a SatIP LNB with 8 tuners and a DVB-T USB stick.

I would like to watch the channels from a SatIP capable Panasonic TV.

-I mapped some channels. Everything works flawlessly when using Kodi or VLC without SatIP protocol.

-I can see TVHeadend as a SatIP server from i.e. DVBViewer and watch the channels.
-When using an app like elgato Sat>IP on tablet/phone TVHeadend is not always discovered as SatIP server. If it is, it works; but sometimes the server (IP) is just not in the list of available devices.

-Also on the Panasonic TV I sometimes see TVHeadend listet as available SatIP source, then I'd have to start a channel scan, the TV finds some channels and then suddenly TVH on the RPi dies. TV will of course not find any channels anymore, aborts, "server not available".

Do you have any ideas what to do or where to search? I could also post a step by step tutorial on how to get that far (especially how to run TVH service as root for port 554 and still being able to access web gui). Interesting?

Thanks!
