Scanning
Added by Evan Marshall almost 9 years ago
Ok, I realize I'm a bit thick, but I need some help setting up Tvheadend on my RPi2 with OSMC.
I installed TVH from the app store, I can browse to its webpage. I have a KWorld u435-Q with its little whip antenna (aerial) that appears to be detected, as I see two LG listings, one for ATSC and one for QAM.
This is as far as I am able to go by myself. I'm not sure how to get it set up to browse any signals, I've tried both the ATSC and QAM.
Tonight I plan to install the software for the u435-Q on my Windows computer to see what that tells me as far as being able to actually receive anything. I apparently should have 6 or 8 strong ATSC digital signals available at my house.

So, I set up the KWorld u435-Q on my Win7 PC with their included software and also with Window Media Center.
With the software that comes with the tuner, I am able to receive 16 OTA channels. I can watch them, but have no sound.
With Windows Media Center, it scans and finds the same 16 channels, but when I try to watch any one of them, I get a message that there is no signal.
Both softwares show the same relative signal strength for all the channels. Some channels are strong, full green, some yellow, and some weak and red.
Armed with this info, knowing that the tuner is working (at least to some extent), I will go back tonight/this weekend and re-try to get tvheadend set up to at least scan and find the channels that I should be getting.
If anyone has any pointers or specific direction they'd like to share before I go stumbling around in the Config, I'd appreciate it.
