Prevent multiple services/channels on one tuner at same time (SAT>IP)

Added by Andreas Hurst about 9 years ago

how can I configure tvheadend not to use multiple services/channels (tv stations) on one tuner (SAT>IP LNB) at same time?

For example: recording sation A und viewing station B using same transponder on tuner 1

Because some SAT>IP LNB/servers have trouble with this scenario I would like disable this feature.

Tvheadend normally receives the full mux. At least I know it does with regular tuners and SAT>IP servers. Tvheadend handles splitting of the services to different clients on the same mux provided it receives the full mux and not a hardware pid filtered one.

I'd be very surprised if your LNB isn't sending the full mux.. I haven't seen hardware pid filtering in years - I have a few dvb-t dibcom devices that do but they're ancient!

You can test if your LNB is sending the full mux by playing one using VLC. You can find the play links in the Muxes tab.

If you really want this feature open a new issue.

Please ignore the above, it would appear that I am totally incorrect here, SAT>IP is a completely different beast :p

Could you elaborate which servers and which trouble? Do servers complain with the SAT>IP standard? TVH uses PID filters, of course.

It appears like a firmware bug. I would contact the vendor and describe your issue. TVH works with many certified SAT>IP servers.

thanks, that is very helpful for me.

My contacts at selfsat are: tm (at) selfsat.com and kylie (at) selfsat.com

I meant that you should send it as the customer. If they are willing to discuss this issue, I am available at perex (at) perex (dot) cz , but TVH uses standard PID change procedure as described in the SAT>IP specification.

Jaroslav, until I have a solution available it is possible to allow only one PID per tuner at same time?
8 tuner SAT>IP Server with 8 PIDs, each using a seperate tuner?

I have the same problem as you.

New firmware is now available on the selfsat web page, but it did nothing to solve the problem regarding reception of multiple channels on the same mux on one tuner.

I found a guide for configuring selfsat sat>iptv server with kodi, but it's not working for me.

Have someone figured this out yet?

Same Problem here.
I have a Selfsat IP36 and if I watch or Record multiple Channels on the same Transponder I get Continuity Errors.
Whether it is encrypted or FTA.
I´m also on the newest Firmware I found few Months ago on the Selfsat Website. 3.1.17

I have the Suspicion that if the bandwidth exceeds 20.000kb`s the Continuity Errors are starting.
If I watch low Quality Channels on the same Transponder and the bandwidth is lower than 20.000kb`s everything is fine.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Maybe the Problem is the 100Mbits POE Adapter from Selfsat?

RE: Prevent multiple services/channels on one tuner at same time (SAT>IP) - Added by David Chrobok over 6 years ago

I found it on the official Website. Selfsat.com
It´s hidden on the Main Page under: "SAT>IP UPGRADE FIRMWARE"
The newest one is "3.1.18". Time to Upgrade for me :)

Edit: Unfortunately Version 3.1.18 doesn´t fix the Problem :(

My suggestion. Forget about selfsat, don't buy their products. I have had several. Using a unicable 2 Selfsat dish now. No products from selfsat works without quirks. Their support really stink, and they use kind of cheap components. Like the unicable (2) antenna i have now, should support 24 channels, but has hickups and locks occasionally when more than 6 is used. My suggestion:
Buy an Inverto lnb, and stick to a normal dish. Selfsat looks good, but their quality is really bad!

You can buy a digitial devices card/ or sat iptv server, then you will have no problems. Digital devices products and inverto sat products = no problems and 100% stability. I learned the hard way. Never again selfsat or cheap china equipment.

thanks

but limit 1 user for 1 tuner limit would not be bad when you have 8 tuners .

i have megasat ip server 3

the megasat ip server 3 is not bad i can watch / record 8 HD channels on all 8 tuners at the samw time without problems only problem if 2 channels
from same tuner :(

If you have a bit of Time there is a workaround to force tvheadend to behave different. I had the same Problem and this fixed it.

You have to create multiple Networks for the same Satelite. Like "Astra 1", "Astra 2", "Astra 3" and so on.
How many you have to create depends on the number of Channels you which to watch/map which are on the same bouquet.
Then you have to distribute these Channels on the different Networks if they have the same Mux.
Difficult to explain that because my English is not so good. :D

I gave you an Example:

I´d like to map these 5 Channels: RTL HD, VOX HD, RTLII HD, n-tv HD
They all are on the same Mux: 10832.25H
So I distribute these on the 4 Networks I have created. RTL HD -> Astra 1 / VOX HD -> Astra 2 / RTLII HD -> Astra 3 / n-tv HD -> Astra 4
It is a bit time consuming but then it will prevent tvheadend to increase the PIDs and cause Lags if you watch multiple of them.

Of course, if you want to spend time on fixing problems, that should not be issues at all, that is your choice. There should be no problem at all, streaming multiple channels on same mux from one tuner. If you can live with constant workarounds and fixing things that are just broken. I don't want to use my time on that. Digital devices sat ip server has no problems with several channels on same mux from the same tuner.if your satip does not do that without problems, the problem is the device. Buy some proper hardware and forget all about it, time is money and life is too short to use time on crappy china hardware

np will fix it self better than a
sk anyone else because then as you see you are alone as before and more ..

thats the scentence i ever heard.

@Mr Sat:

I have the same problem and my solution is:

I have not created multiple equal networks, I've created several equal muxes for the affected muxes on the same network and have assigned the affected services to a single mux. It's a little work, but it works. See the pictures for better understanding. I hid the unneccessary columns.

I hope it helps you too...

John Törnblom Deer:

Silence, if you have no constructive answer or help. Selfsat isn't a crappy china hardware, it's manufactured in Korea and it works like a charm. And they were the first and are the only one who build a SAT>IP-antenna without any coax-cable.
