SAT>IP Server Guide

Added by Wolfgang Ferl about 9 years ago

Hello
I hope i didn't miss some relevant informations in this forum, but as i didn't find a complete guide explaining the sat>ip functionality i'd like to ask some questions about it.
I already have a running setup with the current build 4.1-385 (integrated DVB-S-Tuner, Kodi client-side, descrambling via Oscam), but as I don't own a sat-ip client at this time, i cant't test this on my own. So i would be really glad if someone could me give some hints about it.
I have in mind that it isn't possible to send a descrambled stream to the clients. This guide (http://docs.tvheadend.org/webui/config_misc/#note-the-two-images-below-should-be-replaced-with-a-single-one) tells that this would be possible. Does anyone have this working in his setup?

Another unclear point is how i have to configure a tuner as a SAT-IP Tuner?
In my setup i have two dvb-s2 tuner, and i would like to have the ability to support Sat-IP Clients (Television) as well as htsp clients (Kodi).
How do i assign the tuners? I would suspect that i have to set the field "Exported DVB-S Tuners:" to the amount of tuners that i would like to use? If so, is this tuner reserved exclusive to sat-ip or can it be used for other services if not beeing used?

Thank you for any helpful feedback

It's not complete, but i will give you a few impressions about what i have found out until today.
I was able to test the setup with the Sat-IP capable DVBViewer Pro Application, and it worked really good.
Serverside descrambling in fact is possible. In my situation it's a newcamd connection to a local oscam server. If it is working for other services then nothing more has to been done here.
The only settings i changed have been the SAT-IP Source on the network page (change to 1 for every network you want to publish) and the value of the exported tuners. Here it dind't seem to make any differency if i select DVB-S or DVB-S2.
One thing i didn't understand was that the default Port 554 could not be used. I got the following error: "RTSP port 554 specified but no root perms, using 9983". But as its working with 9983 i didn't track this down any more. This could become a Problem with a TV, but in DVBViewer you can also change the port.
