Added by Ivan Ballestar about 9 years ago

Hi another time.

I changed the card, but i have the same problem, doesn't work.

My computer:
Dell Optiplex 780 with
Intel Celeron E3400 @ 2.60GHz
1Gb Ram at 800Mhz
SO: Ubuntu 14.04.3 Desktop AMD64
Capture Device: WinTV HVR 4000

In a first time appears 2 capture cards, but one time updated the drivers, one card.

Steps one time installed the system:
1. Update & Upgrade
2. Add at the sources.list the source and install
3. Install the drivers step by step from this manual
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-4000#Making_it_Work
Step from this part
wget http://www.wintvcd.co.uk/drivers/88x_2_126_28225_WHQL.zip

4. Reboot

Make sure you're not just using AUTO for the rest of the values when adding a mux. Some tuners can be rather picky about AUTO values. You need to specify Modulation, FEC and rolloff (which is usually 35).

If you're sure that you've entered the details correctly try using w_scan to scan & see if that works.

Thanks Mark Clarkstone.

I tried to install linux-firmware-nonfree and the satelite channels work perfect.

I have two questions:

1: In TV Adapters, only appears the sat card, but the DVB-T Card no: Ho it's possible?
  • Attached Picture: Cards
2: When download stream channel in m3u file, works but in VLC appears one popup with user & password: It's possible erase this password for stream?
  • Attached Picture: password VLC

Thanks.

If you don't see the card being registered (check dmesg for info along the lines of "registering adapter") then it won't appear in Tvheadend.

Looks like your card only allows one standard at a time, meaning you can only have one..

Note: DVB-T and DVB-S/S2 cannot be used simultaneously due to a hardware limitation, but you can easily switch from one to the other.

You can purchase another tuner if you want both DVB-S & DVB-T, you can find loads of cheap dvb-t usbs sticks on ebay.

Yes, create a user (enter an asterisk * for both user and password) See the help for the tab "Access Entries".

The problem is that this card is a hybrid one. But in previous versions it used to work. It displayed both but only one worked at a time. With EPG OTA updates it refused to initialise the other tuner. But now with cron(ified) EPG it should not be a problem anymore.

Now, on the other hand, it displays both tuners until you enable the dvb-s one. From that on, dvb-t tuner dissapears.

Maybe you hold the dvb-s one open?. You will not be able to use the dvb-t one when dvb-s is open :( they are mutual exclusive. I am sure you can fix it, I can test any solutions in Debian, I can use git if you want.

I have been looking at the code and found the solution. No code changes are needed. It is just check the "Power Save" checkbox at the DVBS tuner. It is the same than the old "close file descriptor when idle", and does just that: when you are not using the DVBS subsystem, it closes the file, so the system allows you to open the DVBT subsystem with no problems. If you have not checked that, tvheadend will open the DVBS subsystem and keep it opened. When it tries to discover the DVBT one, the driver doesn't allow because it is supposed to be using the DVBS one.

Note that when grabbing EPG it opens the corresponding susbystem, and will not allow you to use the other one. So disable it or make a cron setting to grab when you are not going to be watching TV.

Best regards
