IPTV setup with Telekom Entertain

Added by Hag Horrible over 9 years ago

Hello,

I just spend some hours installing and reading the manuals / googling, but it seems I even fail to get the first steps working...

I want to run TVHeadend on a htpc running Ubuntu 14.
I get it to start and can access the webGUI via localhost:9981, but under configuration I cannot find out how to set up IPTV.
Many forum threads I found mention the tab "IPTV" which I dont have altogether...
My TV adapters list in the configuration menu is empty. (only the folder icon tv-adapters in it, nothin happens if I click it)

I read the tutorial about Telia IPTV, however I don't know if this applies to my problem. I guess I must somehow tell TVHeadend that it should use eth0 or make ubuntu show eth0 as tvadapter...!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With IPTV you generally do not need tuners, your service provider (usually) broadcasts them via your broadband connection over udp or another related protocol, once you figure out how they are broadcast then you can add them to Tvheadend.

I think (and I'm guessing here) most broadcast them via udp, you can then add the address (e.g. udp://255.0.0.5:1234) to Tvheadend by first creating an IPTV Network (Click add in the Network Tab & select IPTV as the type), then Add the url to the muxes tab.

I don't personally use IPTV (it's uncommon in the UK) so some of this may be incorrect, hopefully someone with more knowledge will reply but I hope this helps you somewhat.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply!
So I got the channels up and running, but would like to use an epg grabber too.
Can anyone give me some hints about setting up an epg grabber in tvheadend on an ubuntu system? (kodi helix)

EDIT: Made it work somehow, via mc2xml and the tv-grab-file...
Thanks anyway!

it is time to read about web grabbers,
then XMLTV or PyEPG.
If internal grabber do not support your country/operator.
