Multiple IPTV services, waiting for stream

Added by Thilo L. almost 10 years ago

Hi,

I'm trying to setup tvheadend to use multiple IPTV providers. To test this I set up two IPTV networks with one Mux and one Service each (So I have two channels). One uses Multicast RTP streams, the other plain HTTP streams. I can record and watch each of them, but when I want to record from both networks simultaneously I'll get a "Waiting for stream" message.

Maybe I dont understand the terms of Mux and Service, can someone give me a hint?

Also, whats the status of the transcoding in Tvheadend? I compiled myself a while ago and got the transcoding switch, but tried the unstable repository now and it doesnt appear.

So I'm getting "No input source available for subscription" / "No free adapter" messages. It this some IPTV network type limitation?

Ok, some thoughts (Just a try, since I do not know about IPTV settings):

DVB-C/T:
- in a DVB-T/C environment, each 'radio channel' ( or 'frequency) is called a 'mux' ( or multpilex') , that can contain multiple channels .
- If the tuner is set to one MUX (physically set) you can simultaneous watch those multiple channels ON THAT MUX. You cannot watch others.

IPTV:
- Now, you set multiple 'IPTV' networks. However, if they in fact correspond to the same 'IPTV' network , you might have a similar situation in which it is that if the original source is used, you cannot use the second source to watch another channel.
- This means that both of them seem to work as individuals ( when only one is active), but in fact hey are coupled, and watching one blocks the other.

This (of course) all depends on the actual situation with your iptv provider and it might well be possible to watch two channels simultaneous in some other way. ( can you do it on your tv using the iptv box?).

Oh yes thanks for that, I forgot about the muxing of programs in DVB terms.

I understand, but the two 'networks' have nothing in common because there are two providers (the streams are also different as seen in the logs, and yes I can watch both simulatenously in VLC for example).
Maybe no one did this before and it's just an odd bug. I think I'll raise a ticket...

Mmm, indeed, if that is the case than it should work.

Does the problem arise regardless of the channels you try?
( i.e. can you try with channels that are only available by one of the providers).

Yes i tried that in the first place. Doesn't work.

Yes, in that case better file a ticket since I guess it should work.
