Installing TVHead from unstable repo
Added by Ash Guest almost 10 years ago
Hi,
First of all apologies! Linux is very new to me! and I’m still trying to get my head around it all!
I’ve been using TVheadend successfully on my Ubuntu 14.3 HTPC for a couple of months now using XBMC as the frontend. Everything is working great apart from FF/RW in the time shift, i appreciate this appears to be a well known bug.
I came across this: [[https://github.com/tvheadend/tvheadend/pull/516]], which suggests to me that it had been fixed? so i installed successfully the TVHeadEnd from the "unstable" repo (i think it was ver: 3.9 (sorry at work at moment, so cant check). Am i right in thinking that that all fixes get added to the "unstable" repo overnight and there for the above fix should have been included? or am i getting completely confused!
I tested the Ff/Rw in time shift and i still cant get it to work, which suggest that I’ve done something wrong!!
Do i need to compile/build it instead to include the timeshift fix? this sounds a bit scary!
thanks
Ash

Are you using pvr.hts or pvr.tvh?
If you're using pvr.hts you could try the pvr.tvh addon (you'll need to build it yourself though).

Thanks Mark for your reply, I'm using kodi-pvr-tvheadend-hts which was listed on the Kodi site, do you know where I can obtain the latest version of PVR.TVH?
I'm up for a challenge, never built anything before but I'll give it a go!

Thank you both, this works now, after installing the PVR.TVH add on and unchecking the on demand checkbox in the time shift tab.
I can successfully FF and RR now, the video when either FF'ing or RW'ing dosn't always appear to be in sync with the actual amount that I've FF Or RR. So it's a bit hit and miss to know if I, for example, rewind enough, it works well enough for me to use.
