DVB Scanning on Tvheadend version 3.9.512.
Added by Fred Clausen about 10 years ago
Hello All,
Some Info:
- TVH version - 3.9.512 built from https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/pull/931
- Platform - Synology DS411j with DSM 5.0
- Adapter Type - DVB
With Tvheadend version 3.4 all was working well and I could watch TV using XBMC without any issues. I thought I'd give version 3.9 a try and Tvheadend runs and appears to work except when I enable the DVB adapter it does not commence scanning like it did in version 3.4 - nor does it say how many muxes are awaiting initial scan. There is just a "Networks" drop-down when remains empty.
The debug log does not show any errors either. Is there some new method for adding channels in version 3.9?
Thanks,
Fred.

I think the issue is that, on 3.4, I could add the regional settings but on 3.9 I am not sure how to do that so TVH does not know how to scan. Any info on how to do that?

In 3.9, you have a different 'cascade' of elements... adapters associate with networks, networks have muxes, muxes have services, services are mapped to channels. It makes a many-to-many relationship much easier, e.g. if an adapter can receive more than one network.
Anyway, you're on the right lines: you need to add a network of the right type (DVB-T, DVB-S, etc.) and then tell it what muxes there are on that network. It's that last step that corresponds to the 3.4 regional settings: you can select "Astra 28.2E" or "German: Bremen" from the Pre-defined Muxes dropdown that appears once you've selected your network type.

Thanks for your reply! I've had a chance to test this and what I've done the following :
- Added network for my location (Sydney, Australia)
- Linked this network to the adaptor
but the muxes fail to appear - in 3.4 all this happened automatically. Do I need to look up the frequencies and manually add each mux in 3.9?
Cheers,
Fred.

You shouldn't have to, but the data sources can get stale - in other words, if there have been any changes then your mux definitions could be wrong. In this case, adding them by hand (or adding one and letting Network Discovery take over to find the rest) is no bad thing.
