Added by yury lafontaine about 10 years ago

Ubuntu 14.04 - Tvheadend 3.4.28 - HDHomerun HDHR3

Trying to migrate from MythTv over to TvHeadEnd but can't complete the installation since the HD Device does not show up.

Any ideas? Anyone? thank you.

Hi Yury,

What does ls /dev/dvb show ?
TVheadend only works with 'local' devices in /dev/dvb/

However, there is a driver that connects to the homerun tuner called dvbhdhomrun.

did you install dvbhdhomrun ?

Alex.

Thanks for the reply Alex, I don't remember adding this on my last installation. Which may be the problem, However it wont compile on Ubuntu 14.04 kernel 3.13.0-32-generic

there was another project located here.

http://sourceforge.net/p/dvbhdhomerun/discussion/1223414/thread/831747bb/?limit=25

dvbhdhomerun is installed - and devices are there

xbmc@PlexOne:~$ ls /dev/dvb
adapter0 adapter1

still no adapters listed in the configuration /dvd inputs page.

Good !
In that case, your problems might be due to a 'timing' problem during boot :

Serveral services are started: network services, userhdhomeron, tvheadend, etc.

It may take a couple of seconds for userhdhomerun to find the tuners (and it needs the network, so it also needs to wait for that) , and then to create the devices in /dev.
If tvheadend is started in the meantime , the devices might not be present yet.

So, you can try to add a delay of 30 seconds in the tvheadend-startup if that is possible, to make sure the devices are created.

Alex.
