scan for muxes and add channels
Added by Alex A about 10 years ago
Hello,
Can someone please tell me how do I add muxes on DVB-C if:
1. my location doesn't exist in "Add DVB network by location", and
2. I do not know and cannot find the details to add them manually
Using:
debian 7.6, 3.2.0-4-686-pae, x86
tvheadend: version 3.4.27~gfbda802~wheezy
Sundtek MediaTV Pro III - latest driver
/opt/bin/mediaclient -e **** List of Media Hardware Devices **** device 0: [MediaTV Pro III USB (EU)] DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-T2, ANALOG-TV, FM-RADIO, REMOTE-CONTROL, OSS-AUDIO, RDS [BUS]: ID: 1-1 [SERIAL]: ID: U140808190353 [DVB-C]: FRONTEND: /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 DVR: /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 DMX: /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0 [DVB-T]: FRONTEND: /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 DVR: /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 DMX: /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0 [DVB-T2]: FRONTEND: /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 DVR: /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 DMX: /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0 [ANALOG-TV]: VIDEO0: /dev/video0 VBI0: /dev/vbi0 [FM-RADIO]: RADIO0: /dev/radio0 RDS: /dev/rds0 [REMOTECONTROL]: INPUT0: /dev/mediainput0 [OSS]: OSS0: /dev/dsp0
w_scan isn't working, it starts scanning and after a while it says:
834000: (time: 03:49) 842000: (time: 03:53) 850000: (time: 03:58) 858000: (time: 04:02) ERROR: Sorry - i couldn't get any working frequency/transponder

I assume that you have to get w_scan to work first. If this does not find anything, then tvheadend won't be able to find anything also. HAve you checked with Sundtek? I heard their support is very good.

Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for replying. After much trial and error I figured I wasn't using the correct QAM with w_scan.
After I changed to QAM_256 it worked.
Also an important info shared by Sundtek Support (thanks to them for being responsive!) is if you add one MUX in TVHeadend, it will automatically detect the others if the information you put in is correct - although note that it may miss some MUXes.
For Romania, QAM_256, DVB-C. UPC provider:
w_scan -t 3 -F -Q 1 -e 1 -f c -c RO -x C 754000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 762000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 770000000 6900000 NONE QAM16 C 722000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 402000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 778000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 666000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 # UPCRO ONID C 306000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 # UPCRO ONID C 314000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 # UPCRO ONID C 322000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 # UPCRO ONID C 362000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 370000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 330000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 # UPCRO ONID C 338000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 346000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 354000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 378000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 386000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 426000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 702000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 710000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 730000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 738000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 866000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 874000000 6900000 NONE QAM256 C 0 0 7/8 QAM16
After I added the frequencies which were missing in TVHeadend and cleared the ones which were inactive, I finally got it working.
