Fails to record from one specific MUX

Added by Erik R over 10 years ago

Hi,

I live in Skåne, Sweden, 5km from the antenna in Hörby/Sallerup. On this (and alternative) antennas my favourite channels are transmitted via MUX 5, 650GHZ. Problem is that TV Headend is unable to record anything from this particular MUX, even though the signal strength is good. The other muxes that are in use works fine.

I use Gentoo, kernel 3.14.4 and genkernel. I have downloaded tvheadend 3.4 path 1 that I have compiled and installed. I have tested with 3 different DVB devices (all based on DIB7000) and on two different OS installations.

Anyone that can help me understand why this particular MUX does not work?

What errors do you get in syslog and/or onscreen when you enable debugging? It's odd that one mux might fail... it's not an H.264 mux when your stick only support MPEG2 or something like that, is it?

The problem remains but I have got some clues to continue with:
  • The 4G mobile network is establishing in the area and seems to interfere with some MUXes. A new antenna with protection for this is purchased but not installed.
  • We live close to the sender and they adjust the exact direction once in a while and we may live right in between two senders. The antenna I bought shall deal with this and collect radio waves reflected from our surroundings.

Problem is that the antenna is an out door antenna and I have to mount it on the house wall. Thus it may take some time before it is done :)

I will report back here if this solves any problem for me.
