New Version for Synology NAS

I have installed over the community channel (SynoCommunity) the version 3.4.27-6 of tvheadend on my Synology ds413 NAS.
Now I've seen that there is currently the version 3.9.xxx. on the Homepage.

Is it possible to install the new version on the Synology NAS?
Is this recommended?

I haven't followed it closely, but I think there are/were issues with compiling for the Qoriq architecture (vs ARM or Intel, which are the more common CPUs). Guess which one the 413 has...
