Channel Order for v3.9.x

Added by Cliff Bryant almost 11 years ago

Hi all

I've made the switch from mythtv to tvheadend 3.9.x with the latest xbmc 13 as the front end so I'm living 'dangerously'. The underlying OS is Ubuntu 13.10 with my usual configuration as a server (SAMBA, bind9 etc). I have a TBS6284 Quad DVB-T2 card plus a TBS6985 Quad DVB-S2 card so have plenty of tuners available.

All is working fine with some 1200+ channels being found. I have successfully selected the required channels however I have no idea how to order them in a sensible fashion. I would like to configure the channels in a certain order on the server and then present that order to the local XBMC and any remote XBMC connections.

Any suggestions welcome....

As an aside I have to say that setting up tvheadend is a breeze compared to mythtv.

In case anybody else is wondering...

Easy answer, just edit the channel numbers in the order you want. I wasn't sure if that would cause other problems but they are purely decorative numbers.

in xbmc
goto settings -> livetv -> general ->

enable options :
1. synchronize channel groups with backends
2. always use the channel order from the backend(s)
3. use backend channel numbers (only works with 1 enabled pvr addon)

This will mean any group names or numbers you add in tvheadend will be what xbmc uses.
