Kodi HTSP Plugin - Transcoding?
Added by Paukl Schmidt about 4 years ago
Hello everyone,
is there a way to get a transcoded stream into Kodi?
I use a Raspi 4 as Backend and transcoding with hardware support works perfectly fine for web-tv (VLC Stream) or other clients that accept H264 streams.
However the TVHeadend HTSP Plugin won't accept this transcoded stream and simply plays nothing.
Is there an alternative TVHeadend Client for Kodi that does accept transcoded streams or is there a way to activate transcoding on the HTSP profile?
Best,
pix3l

The TVHeadend HTSP Plugin works fine with H264 streams. You might have to provide more information to get useful help.
How are you doing the transcoding - are you using a postprocessing script? Does the TVH server recognise the transcoded file?
Have you checked the kodi log for clues?

Thank you for your response.
I created a custom Streaming Profile in TVHeadend based on a predefined Web-TV Profile. This profile works perfectly fine when I use VLC as a client. Codec Information shows that it is a h264 stream.
This is the config I use:

On image there is a selected H264_OMX
Update to latest version there is more transcoding options.

H264_OMX is the hardware accelerated encoder of the Raspberry Pi. So this is mandatory for the whole thing to work.
