Can someone explain these messages.
Added by Greg H almost 6 years ago
Hi all,
CE - 8.95.6 and TvH Server and Client on TX92 (S912) box.
I’m getting the errors below at 0204 and 1404 everyday in my kodi.log and I’m wondering what they mean. I believe it has something to do with the EPG Grabber as the times match. See:

Any ideas on what is causing the errors would be appreciated.

Surely someone has seen these errors and can explain to me what they mean, or how to stop them.
TIA

This looks like a pvr.hts error, do you have async transfer enabled in the settings (of pvr.hts)?

Not that I'm aware of, how would I check?
EDIT: One thing I have noticed is that you have to stop using Kodi for several hours before the error will occur. If you happen to do anything within Kodi prior to the cron job running you will not get the errors.

I just cannot believe that I'm the only person getting these errors and nobody knows what they mean.
Anyone?

Do you check what Mark Clarkstone ask?
Also you provide near zero information about how you receive what hardware OS TVH version etc.

I do not know where 'async tranfer' is so would appreciate help finding this setting.
Hardware is a TX92 (S912) running CoreELEC 8.95.7. TvH is version HTS Tvheadend 4.2.7-34 ~ CoreELEC Tvh-addon v9.0.117.
The error occurs at 2:04AM and 2:04PM everyday as can be seen in this link:

If you require more information please just ask.

Slow CPU is main problem.
Search in Kodi setting PVR addonds

Go to Kodi. Select Addons. Select My addons. Select PVR Clients. Select TVH HTSP Client. Select Configure. Select Advanced Settings. The "Asynchronous EPG Transfer" setting is in there.
I think, but do not know, that is what is being talked about. I have no idea whether having it enabled or disabled is what is desirable or why.

@saen acro - Can you expand on your statement "Slow CPU is main problem." as to why this is causing my problem.
@Dave H - Thanks I have now disabled "Asynchronous EPG Transfer", so will wait and see if it stops the errors. Can you please explain what this setting does and why disabling it should stop those errors?
TIA

As I said, I have no idea what it is.

Add more curiosity creativity and discovery to your initiative.
Search find understand and learn.

Very helpful. NOT!!

IIRC async transfer allows htsp server/clients to send/receive epg data while handling other commands at the same time. It requires a bit more cpu power though and may cause slow downs/errors.

Thanks for the explanation, and I can understand what you are saying. Disabling "Asynchronous EPG Transfer" has stopped the errors, however it is strange that at the times (2:04am and 2:04pm) when the errors occurred CE/Kodi is doing nothing at all and hence not using much CPU at all. It's also strange that if I do something in CE/Kodi, like watch a movie or some TV, say an hour before the cron is due to run at 2:04AM and 2:04PM the errors do not happen. CE/Kodi has to be idle for sometime before the cron is run to make the errors appear.
Thanks again, much appreciated.

Your CPU is slow, with part of this you do not understand?
CPU is optimized for media players, not for media servers.
