Desperatly need help
Added by Hans Jankowitsch about 6 years ago
Hello,
usually i'm not the best with computers but i get my things running and done.
But with LibreElec, Kodi and TVHeadEnd i'm feel like the dummy of this decade.
This is my now 2nd attempt to get it running, the last attempt was over 1 year ago. i gave up and now i thionk it is time to make that step.
And i definatly read any guide, walkthrough etc.
Something else - with the same cables (from the Sat Dish) i can watch TV on my Win10 computer.
First - the machine:
LibreElec 8.2.5 installed on a SSD with Kodi and Tvheadend 4.2
A S1150 Board with a Celeron G1840 & 4Gb Ram - internal Graphik
Twin DVBS2 DVBSky S952 V3 brand new
What says the machine asked with putty:
dmesg | grep DVB
[ 3.392946] dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (SMI_DVB)
[ 3.724279] SMI PCIe driver 0000:03:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (Montage Technology M88RS6000)...
[ 3.731834] dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (SMI_DVB)
[ 3.974208] SMI PCIe driver 0000:03:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (Montage Technology M88RS6000)...
[ 24.333610] SMI PCIe driver 0000:03:00.0: DVB: adapter 1 frontend 0 frequency 0 out of range (950000..2150000)
[ 27.339287] SMI PCIe driver 0000:03:00.0: DVB: adapter 0 frontend 0 frequency 0 out of range (950000..2150000)
Because i need something like a step by step advise i would ask the first question:
That looks ok?
And the config?

Looks good, what issue did you have last time? If you see you're tuners in the DVB Inputs screen you should be good to go.
RE: Desperatly need help - Added by Hans Jankowitsch about 6 years ago
Hello,
thanks for your response.
I do it like it is shown in the guides: Config -> DVB Inputs etc. but when i start 'Force Scan' nothing happens.
I'm not even shure about my installation ans settings within Kodi is correct
I even thought about some problems with the hardware, cross tested the cables, which work perfect at the other computer with 2 USB DVBS receivers.
The next thing that came to mind last night just before i felt asleep - the little wire in the middle of the Coax cable is to short for that card. Because it almost seems the card doesn't get a signal.
At the weekend i start to configure them new with a longer wire. And i'm going to test it at the other 2 coax cables in our living room. I bet my wife has a good book to read meanwhile

I would suggest getting TVH working first and configure it using its own web front-end and watch video with a player such as VLC. Only try to configure Kodi once you're sure TVH is working properly. JMHO.
RE: Desperatly need help - Added by Hans Jankowitsch about 6 years ago
Hello,
@Dave H
it is not possible, because i'm using Libreelec which tries hard to hold me inside Kodi
Ciao

Hi Hans,
if I understand correctly, you are having a PC. This PC is running a LibreElec "Generic HTPC" version that brings along its own operating system. I mean: You did NOT install a Windows or Linux before installing LibreElec, right?
So when you boot the PC you're landing directly into LibreElec, correct?
And then you installed the TVHeadend "server" from inside LibreElec (for example, using "addons"). Right?
If yes, then just for me to understand:
Did you connect to the TVHeadend server's web-based interface (from a webbrowser running on a different machine) ?
If yes, did you follow the steps especially for setting up NETWORK and PRE-DEFINED-MUXES and configuring them to connect to your adapters? If not, forcing a scan will not make any difference because the adapters don't know nothing about what they should scan/search.
Also, in most cases, forcing a scan (which is not necessary usually) is the last resort - and then will not solve issues but rather indicate (by the need to force-scan) that something is wrong with your setup/config. I mean SOFTWARE-wise "wrong" inside TVHeadend.
Can you maybe post a screenshot from the content of the "DVB-adapters", "networks", "channels", "muxes" tabs in the server setup gui?
(If you don't know what "web-based GUI" means or what "port number 9981" is about -> then let me know!)
Also, I assume you are German speaking. If that is correct and you don't know what I mean with the above, let me know if switching to German will make things clearer for you.
Regards, Thomas

"tvheadend htsp client kein freier adapter verfügbar*"
no free adapter available.
I tried changing the two cable - nothing

Hello Hans and welcome back from real world.
I see your dmesg output and I checked your screenshot.
Without long explanations: The first problem we need to solve is that you have a twin card (2 receivers) but only 1 of them is seen as "operational" by TVHeadend.
I don't know your DVBSky receiver but I suppose it has 2 coax connectors, right? (Da sind 2 F-Steckerkupplungen für Koax Kabel dran, oder?)
And both connectors have a cable attached. These 2 cables are connected to a multiport switch which connects to a 4-cable LNB (or 8-cable if dual-Sat for example)?
To repeat: My question is:
What kind of Satellite "dish" setup are you running? 2 LNBs with Disecq Multiswitch?
And 2 cables are coming to your DVBSky and both are connected?
If not: You need 2 cables for 2 connectors. Or: Disable the second adapter in TVH, "DVB-Inputs" -> "TV adapter".
Next, I see from your screenshot that the 2 adapters are not configured the same way. Why? I would think that if these are 2 separate tuners (each with a cable connector) then there should be 2 times the same folder/tree like for the first adapter in your screenshot. And usually, both adapters would be a "universal LNB only".
As long as TVH does not correctly handle the two tuners, we will not be able to deduct setup issues from its behaviour.
(We can guess and guess but it's trial-and-error and shooting on moving targets)
Can you check if someone here (or in Google) has explained how a dual-tuner card needs to look in TVHeadend?
Cheers,
Thomas

Ah, wait.
Please check this:
https://www.technikaffe.de/anleitung-379-anleitung__tvheadend_server_unter_openmediavault_3_installieren
It is probably not the same operating system ...but it boils down to: TVHeadend and your twin-tuner adapter.
Maybe this will help in setting up the tuners ...and it's in German :)
The important part starts with "Anmelden auf der Weboberfläche": See the screenshot. THIS is how it should look like.
Let me know if you manage to set it up accordingly.
HTH, Thomas

Yepp! I would love to check the problem from the basic. And the basics are is it correctly installed on the motherboarcd - are the driver/firmware at the place where the belong to - is the process properly started etc..
If you would like to accompany that way i would appreciate it very much.
In the German Kodinerds forum there is a similiar thread from me:
https://www.kodinerds.net/index.php/Thread/63465-Bin-am-Verzweifeln-mit-Libreelec-Kodi-und-TVHeadend/?pageNo=1
i usually don't do cross posting but i was confused helpless and tried to get any help thats around.

It is a TechnoTrend Twin TT-4200 which is supposed to be a clone of the mentioned DVBSKy S952 Rev. 3 . And there are 2 Coax connectors
The single LNB is a Quattro LNB which has 4 outputs into a multiswitch. The multiswitch has 8 outputs for 8 Rrecevers and that are single cables. of this receivers are 7 used.
if i connect the cables to my TT-2400 (DVBS) and my TT-3600 (DVBS2) both devices are running perfect with DVBViewer Pro under windows. Of course i can't watch a HDChannel while i'm recording a HDChannel.
Next, I see from your screenshot that the 2 adapters are not configured the same way. Why? I would think that if these are 2 separate tuners (each with a cable connector) then there should be 2 times the same folder/tree like for the first adapter in your screenshot. Here we get to the odd behavior. I first had just what is seen on the screenshot 'DVInputs0'
Then i reinstalled the whole Libreelec according to that video :
http://www.minipctv.de/tvheadendserver/tvheadend-konfigurieren/
and i got a correct working Libreelec with Kodi and TVheadend. Both adapter showed the '4 port switch (universal LNB)'
I could switch between the channels, short - anything was working fine.
Shutting down and restarting the next morning i just got what you see in the DVInputs0 screenshot.

I stated writing about one pm
Then i started up the computer and surprise i have 2 new messages. A good one and a bad one!
The good one first - it works!
The bad one - i have no idea why!
The 2nd screenshot 'All_Ok' shows it:
All_OK.jpg
I had to reconfigure 'networks' and it searched for the channels which i had to delete the old ones under 'EPG Channels' and attach the channels ARD,ZDF etc. again and also give them the channel numbers. Restart the Computer and it was sorted and switched between HD and normal (DVBS) channels without problems and also pretty fast.
Right now it lookes like my problem is solved
