LibreElec, TVheadend can't record- states 'recording started' then immediately 'recording completed'
Added by Chris Hughes almost 7 years ago
Hi all, I'm really struggling to get recordings to work. I'm using the HTS Tvheadend 4.2.3-20 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v8.2.112
I'm just starting with Linux. I'm pretty sure it's a permissions issue, but I might well be wrong. I have been in to Kodi to see where it was recording to and then also ssh into libreelec to find that the folder didn't exist. I created the folder using mkdir and it still doesn't work. I'll hit record and it states: 'recording started' then immediately 'recording completed'
I'm pretty sure I'm doing something colossally stupid/ basic, but I can't put my finger on it and the fixes I've found on line talk of a hts group which I don't have on libreelec.
Any thoughts???
Thanks in advance

Has nobody got any ideas/ suggestions for this or am I asking the question in the wrong way?
Any help really appreciated.

Have you checked to see what the log is saying? If you're saving it to a share on another system check you can actually read/write to that path.

Thanks for the response. sorry, I've been away hence the delay. I've booted up my system and now for some reason the Tvheadend backend service is not starting. I've just spent the last 40 minutes googling how to start the service and found nothing
Sorry to be such a noob, but how to I find the logs? Do you know how I re-start the service? I'm tempted right now to start again, re-install libreelec and then use this https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/9184-tvh2kodi-addon-configure-tvheadend-from-kodi-interface/?pageNo=1
tvh2kodi addon to configure it all and cross my fingers that it works. I'd really rather understand how I can manually stop and re-start the service and really get together a better understanding of how this all works so I can debug if anything happens in the future. So if anybody can point me at how to restart the backend service and help me work out why it's not just starting on boot anyway then I'd be tremendously grateful.

Unfortunately I'm not 100% on where Libre stores the logs for services. I'm not even sure if it uses systemd so I don't think systemctl status tvheadend would work.

it didn't as I did try that one. I also couldn't access folders which I felt was odd since I was root. I'm just abut to nuke it and start again nw. If it doesn't work I'll go for a full linux install and stick kodi and tvheadend on that. RTeally appreciate your reply.

Have you setup your recording location? In the tvheadend webui or in the tvh2kodi addon - you need to configure the dvr recording folder. By default it doesn't have write access to the folder that tvheadend sets up.
In case you don't know - the tvheadend webui is accessed by typing the following into a web browser on the same network:
That will bring up the webui - then head over to the CONFIGURATION > RECORDING tab and set the storage path.
You can also just use the tvh2kodi addon and select DVR configuration - select Storage - which will open the settings dialog and then select the DVR Recording Path.

Mám podobný problém s Zyxel NAS326 kde jsem povolil server nfs.
nastavoval jsem cestu pro PVR přímo pomocí http: //YOUR.IP.ADDRESS: 9981
na nfs://192.168.1.NASip/i-data/2fa9acfd/nfs/TV
nahrávání jen problikne a ihned skončí !
na lokal /storage/tvshows/ vše funguje jak má !
Nevím si rady

Martin M. - if you're trying to make your NAS the recording location for tvheadend, you need to make sure that the NAS has been mounted as local drive on the system that tvheadend is running on.
Take a look at the following:

hope that helps.
