CONFIGURING PVR TARGET DISK AS LOCAL USB STICK CONNECTED TO RASPBERRY PI 3

Added by Harry Lightfoot over 7 years ago

Hey guys,

forgive me but I'm very very very new to tvheadend and recording and even streaming live tv on kodi through raspberry pi. I have a raspberry pi 3 if that makes any difference in what I have to ask.

I would like to know, in the tvheadend control panel on the ipaddress:9981etc control panel, how to set it up so the raspberry pi in osmc records to a physical, local usb stick connected to the actual raspberry pi. Now i don't know if its realy obvious when you get into the control panel but I haven't started setting it up yet, in fact right now I'm waiting for hermes to deliver my micro sd card so i can actually use the raspberry pi, but all i want to know is how to configure tvheadend on kodi/osmc/raspberrypi3 to record live streams to a local memory stick connected to the raspberry pi itself.

thanks, Harry, UK

If the stick is attached to the machine running tvheadend all you need to do is mount it & then point tvheadend to it (change the dvr path). Here's a guide

Your question isn't clear. Are you running TVHeadend on the same device as the Kodi frontend, or a separate device?

It sounds like you want to record to storage on the frontend device - if this isn't what you want, maybe you should reword your question to make this clearer.

If you're running TVheadend on the same device as the Kodi frontend, then as Mark says, just mount the storage on that device, and configure TVHeadend to use it.

However if you're running TVHeadend on a separate device, then TVHeadend will record to storage on the device it's running on, not on whatever device you happen to be using as the frontend.
