Recording list format change

Added by Tony Terlecki over 8 years ago

I am just testing Kodi Jarvis RC3 with version 2.2.13 of pvr.hts and I notice there is a difference in the way Tvheadend recordings are listed in Kodi. Previously we would just have the recording title listed with the more complete recording description in the window to the right (this is using the default Confluence skin). Now, however, the description is appended to the title listing in parentheses. It looks very cluttered like this and I don't like it - I just want to see the title in the list. Is there any way to turn off having this additional information displayed alongside the title as I can't find any menu option which seems to relate to this?

I see the same with recordings and when watching Live TV especially on Freeview channels here in the UK. This is because the synopsis is incorrectly set as the subtitle in the EPG data, Tvheadend used to workaround this but I believe it was removed because it caused issues for others.

Do we know what the workaround was for and if it can be reset, as this is just a display point in the list view for the recordings. This is now an issue for me as I have just moved to Jarvis and the new list is almost unreadable compared to the previous version.

I don't know what the fix is as I don't know what is at fault. I did not change my tvheadend version when updating Kodi to Jarvis so something has changed either in Kodi or in the tvheadend plugin.

If I edit the log files for all the recordings and clear the "subtitle" entry then everything displays fine in Kodi. The subtitle information however is then missing in the tvheadend web gui and there is no "description" column I can add in its place. Besides I don't want to have to edit log files post-recording just to get them showing properly in Kodi.

So where does the issue lie exactly? It was working OK and now it isn't so either the Jarvis update or the accompanying tvheadend plugin has been changed create this issue.

Should a request go in for tvheadend be modified to not write the description text to the synopsis (and then have a description column added to the tvh gui) or do we need to get whatever workaround was in previous versions of Kodi or the tvh addon reinstated?
