Slow channel switching?
Added by Alex P about 9 years ago
Hi everybody,
I'm using Kodi(XBMC) as Frontend for TVHeadend.
Actually the time which Kodi and/or TVHeadend needs to switch a channel is very slow.
On purpose I bought a DVB Cine S2, because everyone says it has best switching times.
Is there the possibility to tune something? I'm taking about 2-3 seconds for a non-descrambled channel and up to 3-6 seconds for a descrambled channel.
Actually the picture comes after round about 1-2 seconds, but until the picture has motion and sound takes much time.
Kodi version: 15.2~git20151019.1039-final-0trusty
HSTP: 2.1.18-1~trusty (kodi-pvr-tvheadend-hts)
TVHeadend Version: HTS Tvheadend 4.0.7
I would really appreciate it if someone can help.

This sounds more like a playback issue than a Tvheadend one, Try streaming a service on a different machine using something like VLC and watch the debug output pane in Tvheadend.

This is the low from watching a free TV channel:
Nov 17 14:36:57 kodi tvheadend[1619]: http: 192.168.181.40: using ticket E0A307FBFFED07A531FC0E5A06D0EA8737E31F04 for /stream/channelid/1146930637 Nov 17 14:36:57 kodi tvheadend[1619]: subscription: 0053: "HTTP" subscribing on channel "Das Erste HD", weight: 100, adapter: "STV090x Multistandard : DVB-S #0", network: "Astra 19.2", mux: "11493.75H", provider: "ARD", service: "Das Erste HD", profile="pass", hostname="192.168.181.40", client="VLC/2.1.5 LibVLC/2.1.5" Nov 17 14:36:57 kodi tvheadend[1619]: mpegts: 11493.75H in Astra 19.2 scan complete Nov 17 14:36:58 kodi tvheadend[1619]: subscription: 004E: "epggrab" unsubscribing
The picture comes within 0.5-1sec in VLC and motion is starting ~2seconds. Shouldn't it start immediately?
Here's a log from a non-free (descrambled) channel:

Tooks about 2 seconds for the picture and almost 4 for motion. Any ideas?
Should be faster, or?
