Kodi freeze when zapping
Added by Christian Bast over 9 years ago
Hi!
I want to use Kodi and Tvheadend to watch live TV. Here is my setup:
Backend:
Cubietruck with TVHeadend 4.1-347~gecbb176 under CubianX; 2 x DVB-S2 TeVii S660 USB
Frontend:
Raspberry PI 2 with OpenElec 5.0.8 with TVHeadEnd-Plugin
Both connected with Gigabit LAN. No more Clients.
When zapping through the channels via Kodi, Kodi will freeze after a time. I've tested it also with a Windows-Kodi-version. I will have to restart Kodi AND Tvheadend.
Where can I look to find the error (I'm not a Linux-freak)?
Christian
P.S. I also need to restart the Tvheadend-servide every two or so days, because the load rises and TVHE will not respond.

I updated to version tvheadend_4.1-363~gf632da3 with no effect.
But know I found error messages in the syslog, so that it is clear, that the error is on the server-side:

The Tvheadend-process was terminated so that I have to start it manually again.
Can someone find out, what happened? And how to fix?

I'm also using the same tvcard tevii s660 on my pi2, I'm experiencing the same continuity errors on some channels.
Most visible when tuning to servustv hd.
When I was using the tvcard on x86_64 machine everything was fine.
See my ticket https://tvheadend.org/issues/3063
did you find a solution?
I don't know if its tvcard/rpi2/openelec/... problem.

It's a bandwidth issue on the Pi, remember the Pi only has one usb bus that it shares between USB ports & Ethernet & this can get swamped easily. I've tried to stream a complete mux & it glitches like crazy (using a Technisat Skystar), however if I stream just one service it works fine. So unless the RPi foundation upgrade the Pi's Ethernet & add more buses you're stuck :(.

What's interesting.
When I set deinterlacing to mmal-half in video settings, there are just very rare discontinuities and no visible artefacts.
EDIT: When I open stream with vlc there are also no discontinuities.
