I know - I'm the idiot but...

Added by Frank Stein almost 10 years ago

I have a new install of Kodi on a Intel Atom CPU etc running OpenElec 4.97 (I tried 5 too but no better).

I have a HDhomerun dual tuner. I can see live tv via windows over my LAN.

I have enabled TVHeadend. Installed hdhomerun addon and I think have it setup.

I am trying to follow the setup directions from here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Configuring_Tvheadend
and some here http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=182556

But when I get to http://YOUR_HTPC_IP:9981 (Yes - I know what my HTPC IP is...)
The setup screen is just enough different to make me unsure. I bricked my setup twice now by randomly trying some things...

My biggest problem is the guide is written for TVHeadend version 3.4 and the latest installed on OpenElec is version 3.9.2413.

Okay - so honestly I am not very far along.

I added a new user under "Access Entries" and disabled the default entire world access.
I updated Kodi/TVHeadend with those credentials.
System log back at http://YOUR_HTPC_IP:9981 shows "Reconnected to TVHeadend.

I go to DVB Inputs and this is where I get lost.
My dual tuner shows up like the attached images

- Can you point me to step by step of what to do next? Do I have to configure all 4 things or??

Any weblinks or anything would be graciously appreciated as I am pulling my hair out.

If you're using Cable configure the DVB-C adapters, if you're using Over the Air via an antenna (Aerial here in the UK) configure the ATSC ones.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
Okay. That makes sense. So I blindly tried to enable just the two ATSC ones. I am here in Chattanooga TN with an OTA antenna. I just chose ATSC mid channels or something. It said somewhere that there were 68 muxes it was going to check but it never started checking them. From memory of setting this up years ago I recall it counting through the muxes until they were all scanned.

So I went back into DVB Inputs and checked "link to" or something (trying to get the scan to start?) and then - I got the dreaded TVheadend client connection lost banner on my KODI box and lost connection at my config pc screen too. Now the only thing I know to do is re-install KODI and try not to do whatever I did wrong...

My system log from TVHeadend says:
2015-01-24 09:13:15.363 subscription: 0001: "keep" subscribing to mux, weight: 1, adapter: "HDHomeRun ATSC 1031DBFA-0 : ATSC #0", network: "networkname", mux: "803.28MHz", hostname: "", username: "", client: ""

2015-01-24 09:13:15.363 mpegts: HDHomeRun ATSC 1031DBFA-0 : ATSC #0 - HDHomeRun DVB-C Tuner #0 (192.168.1.2) - linked input cannot be started (All: 0)

There seems to be a problem with the live update feed from Tvheadend. Trying to reconnect...

Is there any more instructions on this version of TVHeadend? Is there a way I can install the old version so the instructions work?
Any other tips for the next step?
Thanks in advance!

Well - redid my Kodi install again and... made it a bit further. Hoping this intel might help the next guy.
Just a reminder I am doing OTA channels in Chattanooga, TN.

Okay using the steps discussed above I got to where I could see my HDHomerun on http://YOUR_HTPC_IP:9981
The next step is: Configuration/DVBInputs/Networks Add ATSC Network
I set network name to "ATSC Center Freqs"
Predfined Muxes - drop down to "United States: us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB"
Create.

Then go to Configuration/DVB Inputs/TV Adapters
HDHomeRun ATSC : ATSC #0

Click Enable.
Networks - set to your newly created "ATSC Center Freqs".
Click Save.

Then go back to Configuration/DVBInputs/Networks
Highlight your network "ATSC Center Freqs"
Then click on Force Scan

This will take a while as it will hunt for all of the Muxes or services or... whatever they are properly called.

Once complete go to Configuration/DVBInputs/Services
That list is all the services your antenna receives.
You can click on Play (I did Shift click so it opens a new window...) Boom - it WORKS!!!
Highlight each service you want to add to your lineup and click Map.

At this point - Kodi sees the channel and a new tab called TV shows up and works.

Still working on the EPG or recordings etc.

But thanks for the hints. Appreciate more hints and maybe this will help the next guy!
