Oscam, where/which is current source?
Added by Alex . almost 6 years ago
Hi,
I am in the process of setting up a new media server, the old one is running Oscam1.2 from 2012 or so.
Now I want to install (the latest?) version of Oscam. However, when searching I find multiple locations and versions of it. Also, some seem not to be maintained anymore, is there any version which is specifically to be used and trusted anno 2019?
- Can someone point me to the most current (2019, trustworthy) version of the Oscam source?
- Are there any reasons to use a specific version, or are there currently alternatives?
I also would like to understand if there is a difference between the various versions, apparently it got cloned into two projects a number of years ago.
Thanks for any pointers,
Alex.
PS: I understand I can alternatively just move the binary from 2012 from my old server, but I prefer to compile from source the latest version.

Oscam is maintained.
Latest change:

Support board:

to build:

The "official" "unofficial" version with emu support is here.

Ok, thanks !
I used an old ebuild which pointed to a now non-existing domain, and found various others. But apparently the (current) source moved to streamboard.tv .
Any idea why the packages is not 'regularly' available in some distros? I understand there is some discussion, mainly in the US, regarding softCAM's, but since in itself I would think they are not the real problem I never really understood if this is a reason for not including them.

I installed Oscam from the new location at Steamboard.tv . This now works and channels are decrypted.
However, somehow I cannot get the EMM's to update. (TVheadend says ' Will not forward EMMs (not allowed by server)
' ).
This is a bit strange, since I use the exact same config files as before.
Any hints on this?
Alex.

enable
au=1
on user and client, to have it work.

Thanks a lot!
Indeed, adding au= 1
to the user does it.
My problem was I adapted the identifiers, but didn't match the [reader] label.
So, for reference, it now works as expected using either:
au=1
or
using in the oscam.server file:
[reader]
Label = Smargo
and using in the oscam.user file:
[account]
au = Smargo
In the oscamlog I now again get, as it should:
AU enabled for user tvheadend
and in tvheadend:
Will forward EMMs
