Descrambling DVB-T using several DVB USB dongles, CI module in Terratec H7

Added by T H almost 7 years ago

Hi, I'm having both success and problems using a Terratec H7 with CI module to record DVB-T.

I've previously used a smartcard reader with newcs as softcam to descramble but would like to switch to using the H7 with a CI or CI+ module (I have both).

Recording using the H7 works well with either a CI or CI+ module, but no other connected USB DVB-T dongles (PCTV T2 290e and PCTV T2 292e) seem to be able to use the card in the H7 to descramble transmissions. When using softcam and smartcard reader, both the 290e and the 292e can descramble simultaneously.

I've tried the "fake CA-client" solution at
http://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/22458?r=22579#message-22579
but that doesn't work for me.

Is what I'm trying to do even possible, and if so, what do I need to do to succeed? Set up a fake CA-client using another method than the one described? Or is it a known impossible thing to do? Work in progress? Does some other hardware support what I'm trying to do?

I'm currently using 4.2.5-14~g1665c35 on Debian Unstable, but I can try to compile something else if anyone has any suggestions.

Hi, can you (or someone else) elaborate? Does "work on hardware level only" mean it's impossible to do what I want, or is it just difficult? Is is a WiP in Tvheadend? Will switching hardware help me?
